    Importance of Freight

If you were delayed 6 hours at the shipper, then the delivery time should have been set back 6 hours.

A bulkhead doesn't matter. The box must be seperate from the cab.

Greg, Even in desperate times hauling an inhalation hazard in a van is a no-no. Not only is it dangerous, but it's illegal. If you turned it down at the shipper you at least would have got dry run pay and been up for the next load. Hope things improve for you this week. Hang in there!

Is it real, or is it Memorex?

Excellent advice. I have had payroll people go back and check QC messages because dispatch didn't list the extra pay in their notes. It would be nice if we could pull a hard copy but at least payroll can go back and check.

    Gm's In-tank fuel filter

Thanks Marty, 276,000 that's nice to hear. I went 185,000 on my 1998. The dealer said the new pump had a life time warranty. It never failed.

    Gm's In-tank fuel filter

I'm guessing that the filter is part of the pump. My wife has a Jeep with an in-tank filter. I think in-tank filters are becoming more common. I could tell if someone hadn't change their filter in a long time. I could hear it working over the idling engine. A loud buzzing whine.

    Gm's In-tank fuel filter

The first time my 2004 was due for a fuel filter change I went to NAPA. Looked up my vehicle in the filter book. Same filter as my 1998. I crawled around under my van, felt along both frame rails, top and bottom, traced the fuel line, NOTHING, no filter. A few weeks later someone suggested...

    Gm's In-tank fuel filter

The problem is that the 6.0 has no in-line filter. The only fuel filter is in the tank. I guess when the filter gets plugged, the pump will be toast and both can be replaced at the same time. Thank you GM! I always hated spending $10.00 every 30,000 mile replacing that pesky in-line filter...

    Serendipity, Bad Karma, or Whatever

I cross at Pembina, ND 5 or 6 times a year. I have used both the car and commercial lanes when empty and have been told I'm in the wrong lane. Somnetimes I'm charged $5.00 and other times not. They aren't very consistant.

    Serendipity, Bad Karma, or Whatever

I crossed back into the U.S. no problems. The truck lanes were backed up so I went into the passenger car lane. The nice lady asked for my I.D. I complied. The nice lady asked to look in the back of my van. I complied. The nice lady said, "Have a nice day." I complied. The nice lady...

    Serendipity, Bad Karma, or Whatever

This afternoon I posted on the Border Crossing Forum. My question delt with a QC fleet message from Friday about crossing back into the U.S. The message stated as of this Monday a security seal and C-TPAT security inspection were required to enter into the U.S. wether loaded or not. 2 hours...

    Gm's In-tank fuel filter

Marty, what year is your van? I assume it has an in-tank fuel filter.

    Sleeping with the cheese.

Turtle, you have my sympathies! I can only begin to imagine what a mess that powder made in your van. When I worked LTL a guy on our dock speared a plastic lined bulk bin of that very same stuff. It's pigment for ink. As you said super fine. Finer than talcum powder. This stuff was dark...

    Canada Returning to the U.S.

I received this QC fleet message Friday 5-5-06:Trucks entering the U.S. from Canada will be required to have in place a high security seal and C-TPAT security inspection. The message continued on about fines but did not go into detail about the seals and inspection. Can anyone clarify this...

    Military Base Slobs!!!

I would deliver to an Ashland Oil refinery in St. Paul Park, MN 2 or 3 times a month. The guard would deny entry to me because I had a beard. Not a ZZ Top or taliban beard. Just a trimmed full beard. The reason was that in the event of an emergency a respirator would not fit tightly around my...

    Smells

Broom, I can get some powered cheese for you. A little of this stuff sprinkled around the cab and sleeper and you won't even smell that bull rack you're parked next to. Some quality ear protection will block out the snorting and hoof stompimg.

    Gm's In-tank fuel filter

Has anyone had problems with the fuel filter on the newer GM 6.0 engines? The fuel filter is in the tank. There is no scheduled maintenance. Do you just run it till it fails. Has anyone replaced a fuel pump on a 6.0? My 1998 5.8 had an in-line fuel filter that I replaced every 30,000 miles...

    Conserving Fuel – van owners

I use my cruise whenever possible.(weather and road conditions). I set it at 67mph, even in 70 and 75 mph states. I don't idle. I dump a can of Sea Foam in the crankcase every 50,000 and run 200 or 300 miles and change the oil. Tune-up every 85,000. Slow steady starts. I averaged 16.2 mpg...

    Fog Lights

I replaced my stock 9006 bulbs with silverstars last October. I liked the whiter illumination they provide. One burned out in December. I replaced it 3 weeks later the other side burned out. At $24.00 a pop that's it, no more Silverstars. No I didn't touch the bulbs. Any ideas? Or is this...
