I don't think they have figured out how to make it not freeze. That is why the def tanks and lines are made of plastic so that they can handle if it does freeze. And there are heaters in the tanks to keep it freezing when in use.

Def freezes at 12 degrees, guess they are trying to prevent damage to the pumps when it gets that cold.
