if i were starting out i would try and drive for someone, get to know the job without having to buy the van.you may find the van to small for a team and need a c or d unit, who will you lease with? if you drive for someone they will pass on helpful info because they have a financal interest...
i have a 99 e350 powerstroke diesel, with 70 psi in tires and wind at my back with crusie at 65 and under 500 pounds on back i get 22mpg.for every 500 pounds you add in the back subtract a mile per gallon or so.
you may want to drive for someone if you can handle it money wise.you wont make as much, but you will understand the job and be able to tell if its for you.i have a van and am home most weekends,700 to 1200 is about what i do per week in jan.
thanks for your responds.everything you said is right on,if i am coming home i get within 100 miles and i get swamped with load offers.i didnt think any companys were offering getting you home.if one put it in writing and backed it up i would give them a serious look.
home for me is chicago.i know there are loads coming in,i am just not getting them.if there was a company that had a policy that insured two loads home per month i would be intersted in talking to there.
