Not quite so... some carriers apply orientation fees, some really high orientation fees, which of course these fees are the driver's responsibility, but if the driver quits before starting the job, the carrier will charge the fleet owner...
Best 4th of July for me it was back in '95... picked up in MI, spent the 4th OTR, delivered next day in El Paso, slept few hours, got load back to Toledo, OH...
At 200K had to change the (gas) engine. But I don't blame the manufacturer, it was driven by a horrible guy... I also changed the driver... and lots of bulbs (headlights, markers)
