    Government out of control

Yes, business and other travelers who need to get somewhere within a certain amount of time. Often, rail or driving won't get them there in time. The only option is to fly.

There's a lot of people who find something wrong with anything and everything that Obama does or doesn't do.

    Are you being macromanaged?

5 hours is the amount of time that will reduce the amount of liability for the carrier when balanced with getting the load delivered on time. :D

    Are you being macromanaged?

Translated by Panther: "I'm tired and need a break." And the response will be to not let you drive any further now that you've mentioned that you're tired and need a break, because when you're tired and need a break you need at least a 5 hour break, and if they let you drive any further and you...

    Are you being macromanaged?

That's the perfect example of how an otherwise good rule is badly applied, without intelligence or common sense. The rule in and of itself is not a bad one, but if it is applied blindly and without thought, it becomes retarded.

    Are You A Little Racist?

Everyone is racist to one degree or another. Everyone. It's in the genes, it's a powerful survival mechanism. Many people, including The Institute for Interracial Harmony above, believe that all racism is a learned conditioning, and that it can be unlearned. That's a "warm and fuzzy" Utopianism...

    Worst roads in America?

For my money, though, the worst road is I-43 between Beloit and Milwaukee. There are some pretty bad roads out there, but every time I drive I-43 I'm embarrassed to call myself an American.

    air guns and CMV's

There are no federal laws restricting air guns. Some states and cities have some restrictions, tho. Jersey, Illinois, and Johnson City, TN are the ones I know about for sure who treat air guns the same as a firearm. I think Canada treats it the same way, too, but I'm not positive about that.

    Pigs and buffets

It's nearly impossible to permanently eliminate rats around a dumpster, you just have to keep the numbers down out there and prevent them from getting inside. We had an outside rat problem at one restaurant I worked at. Traps and poison worked to a degree, but still didn't to the trick. Finally...

    Are you being macromanaged?

Actually, it is both exactly and entirely true. Running under an authority is an either/or proposition, no exceptions. You're either running under your own authority, or the authority of someone else. That's a statement that stands on its own, until you start to redefine and restate it by adding...

    Are you being macromanaged?

Far be it from me to defend Panther, but, uhm, "arbitrary" constraints? Granted, I'm not intimately familiar with each and every one of the definitions of "arbitrary", but as far as I know, "something I don't understand or agree with" isn't one of them. Unreasonable is one of them, and not...

    Are you being macromanaged?

Well, that's not really having it both ways, though. That's merely picking a carrier who regulates you in a manner with which you agree. You're still being regulated by the policies of their authority, and if you go outside of their policies, they'll let you know right quick that you're not...

    Are you being macromanaged?

In this business, Liberty depends on who's authority you are running under. If it's your authority, then whatever happens is solely your responsibility, but if you're running under someone else's authority, there ya go. You can willingly put on the chains and shackles of a lease agreement and...

    Government out of control

The airlines' "a la carte" pricing is truly getting out of control. Yes, you can rebel with your wallet, but for a lot of people airline travel is the only way to get where they need to go, and not all airlines fly to all destinations. A la carte pricing is known as “unbundling,” and on the...

    Are you being macromanaged?

First, unplugging the QC to deliberately deceive the carrier is grounds for having your contract canceled. I know several to whom this has happened, and for the very reason that was illustrated in this thread. The carrier would, and should, limit you because no matter how much you protest, it's...

    Sprinter engines

I'm not sure why people think we abuse cargo vans (and trucks) more in the US than in Europe, but by and large the pallets are roughly the same size and are made to haul 2000 pounds. The landscape of Europe, and Germany in particular, is just as varied as it is here, with lowlands nears the seas...
