New EO Surfing Tips and Tricks

I know I like it better already - the more colorful look is great! Figuring out all the options that are available, and how they're accomplished, gives us something to do, while waiting for the next pickup, too.....;) I only hope I can get fairly competent with it, before you roll out the next...

    Split team,Cargo van

Sleeping: the van I teamed in had no bunk, so there was room for two bedrolls, when not loaded. When loaded, you just use whatever room there is left. (Hint: if one of you has to sleep on top of the load, it should be the one who is smaller.) If you have just one bunk, I don't know what to...

    Split team,Cargo van

Words to live by: "If it wasn't documented, it didn't happen!" Terry is, as usual, on the ball. :)

    Split team,Cargo van

Nowhere near enough, lol. The ubiquitous 60/40 split: 60% to drivers, 40% to owner. All fuel & tolls paid by drivers, all maintenance & repairs by owner. Drivers also paid for 'worker's comp' insurance, but not for the Qualcomm.

    Split team,Cargo van

Mike: I drove team for awhile, in a cargo van that neither of us owned. In that scenario, one driver is the 'lead' driver, and is responsible for paying all tolls, fuel, and other expenses. When the receipts are turned in to the owner, half the eligible costs are deducted from the pay of the 2nd...

    1 Week Off Limit

The fact that dispatch told you to wait, from 2330 until 0630, makes it detention, as far as I'm concerned - calling it a dry run, and paying just $50 for it, is pretty shabby treatment. If the customer hadn't cancelled the load until 0630, then they were in the wrong, and should pony up, IMO...

    Straight truck team driving

Nighthrasher: while you're starting off on the right foot, asking questions, you're asking the wrong questions. "Are there loads?" (Yes. Depending on where you are, & when you're there, & other factors that change according to the calendar, among other things) "Too many straight trucks?" (Yes...

    question about randoms

Totally agree on the 4 reasons, but I think "qualified" can apply to other than law enforcement, no? (To an irate customer? NFW!)

    wal-mart parking info

The link took me to a site featuring an "RValue" book, (for RVs) published by Cottage Time Industries. The book has locations and maps for WalMarts & Sam's Clubs, but I don't think it's an official WalMart stamp-of-approval guide - not even the atlas sold for $5 at WalMart, listing all the...

    Old Layout!

I just want to know how to get an avatar - my profile won't seem to allow it, even if I could import one from somewhere else, and I'm lost here.

    question about randoms

I'm sure it's annoying to be chosen for a random test several times in close proximity, but the nature of the beast is that you have the same chance of being chosen each and every month. As Tennesseehawk says, it's nothing personal, and doing it with a cooperative attitude makes it easier for...

To Expedite Or Not To Expedite?

If there's no such thing as luck, how do lotteries and casinos manage to make such gobs of money? If there's no such thing as luck, some of those megamillion dollar lottery winners must be really smart, huh? (But once they've won, it's amazing how quickly they get really stupid) To the...

    Avatar

The browse button to choose an avatar hasn't yet made the transition to the new layout. Know just how you feel, I was pretty attached to my Roadrunner, too. (In spite of it's label 'loon' Well, that could fit too, I spose...)

need advice on buying a straight truck

It's that inexperience that will bite you in your you-know-what, if you jump into being an owner/operator, without sufficient preparation. I agree with the Arkjar, take the time to learn what you need to know, while earning what you'll need to spend. And save, because a reserve fund can be...

    Trucking days are numbered...

Randy, I know it's trite, but most trite sayings are the truth: when one door closes, another opens. If you can keep that in mind, during what can be a discouraging time, you'll see the door opening sooner, I bet. Best of luck, whatever comes next for you. PS The best advice I ever got about...

And some of you want truckers with guns?

Greg, It was I who said it matters not what weapon an antisocial driver possesses, because he is at the wheel of a pretty big weapon already, no? I can agree that the truckdrivers of today are all too often "the bottom of the barrel" (not the best environment to be a single female in...
