Can you work for more than one company?

Just buy insurance from a third party which is basically trip leasing. That just pertains to the cargo insurance. The truck insurance can either be from a third party or the carrier. Our insurance isn't with Panther even though we a leased to them. Someone running for two carriers can do the...

lets all pay more taxes - 1099

That information is actually true. What I find interesting is that many politicians weren't aware that was in the Obamacare bill. Imagine that. Just another example of fools voting for something that they haven't read.

Can you work for more than one company?

Vinnie. A O/O that is leased to a carrier, can broker a load if carrier permits, and run under that carriers authority. Load insurance can cover more than one shipment at a time. LTL folks do this all day long as well as many expediters. In our case, if we put on more than one load, we have...

    contracts

I do agree with having to periodically review them as some things change for a variety reasons. A good example off the top of my head would be hiring someone say out of NJ. A $750 cost has to be added to bring them on as a independent contractor. The 750 is so they can opt out of the states...

Fedx considering option of a flat rate for strt and tt

It is amazing what can be seen when the rose colored glasses are taken off and the flowery myths are removed. With regards to leases, One must have a primary unless of course you are running under your own authority. As mentioned, insurance is usually carried by a third party, but not...

Can you work for more than one company?

One has to be the primary carrier. It would require a addendum from the insurance carrier which is likely a third party. Most carriers aren't self insured. That only pertains to the cargo liability. The truck has its own liability insurance seperate from cargo. If the carrier doesn't insure...

    QUALCOMM INSTALL gone bad!

I think Stoops is on Panthers QC list of repair places but I wouldn't bother. Easier to drive to Seville or Wolverine is pretty decent in Ann Arbor.

Fedx considering option of a flat rate for strt and tt

Not a specific company issue, but if a carrier takes on a bunch of budget freight and then can't move it, they will have to rob from the productive loads to get them covered. Unless they have dollars falling from the trees, I would say the options are very limited.

    contracts

I would agree as this contract question comes up a lot. Too many things that are state, carrier, and owner specific for a one size fits all. With regards to incorporating, it does have certain tax advantages for some. Definitely not all. As for protecting assets in the event of a lawsuit, it...

    QUALCOMM INSTALL gone bad!

I am guessing they are parts changers rather than actual technicians. If changing the part doesn't work, they give up. Like you, we have no plans to return. Cheaper to tow it somewhere if that is needed.

    QUALCOMM INSTALL gone bad!

Two repairs over the last 12 months. One in Indy and the other in Dayton. Replace a AC line and messed up the whole AC. 2k and it had to be redone. Air leak at Indy spent all day there only to get the truck back and even put on the receipt they couldn't find it after a 900 dollar bill. They...

Something for Newbies to Think about / TJP's Trials

Some of this I have posted before. I always recommend before anyone buys a truck, to have at least 10k in reserves in addition to the price of the truck and start up costs. There has been a few folks over the years that have had accidents early on, and got completely wiped out. It is a big...

    Watch Out Panther Fleet Drivers

There are always going to be bad fleet owners. A thorough review and fleet owners reputation are imperative before signing on with someone. With that said, just by the sheer imbalance of numbers, there are likely more bad drivers than fleet owners. Just a thought to consider when looking at...

    Going Public

Wow. Turtle is the first to ACTUALLY understand what it says. I'll add that somewhere in there it says their total debt load is one percent of their revenue. I am not exactly worried. I wish people would understand this stuff before going all over the place with it. I thought mentioning...
