    dogs

I got food poisoning on a run to Texas so dispatch sent in a truck to transfer the load. The load was real heavy and we were only a couple of hours from the drop so the other guy just drove my truck and we brought along his hairy little co-driver too. Just that short little run to the drop and...

    Unbelievable trip to JFK Airport!!!

I'm a weenie but I'm a happy weenie. I have had my bad experiences in NYC and I have no need to repeat them. I may have gone there in the Sprinter but only for a good customer under special circumstances. Paying to get in to a place I don't want to go, makes no sense to me. If ya gotta go there...

    Unbelievable trip to JFK Airport!!!

I have only been to NYC once. I decided that it was not worth the money to return EVER. There are too many tolls though the ones you pay to leave seem worth the money. There are so many places you can go for freight in this country and Canada I figured never going back there was no...

    C & M trucking, any input

Talked to a few people about them and know one or two drivers who run for them. Never heard a bad word about them. In this business, that's saying a lot.

Ford E250 4x4 to Sprinter? should I? lots of Q's

My Sprinter was maintained to the letter and it lasted 322,000 miles before the transmission failed. It was very poor at stopping and starting on ice, snow, and even loose ground. With careful maintenance it needed, 1-turbocharger, 1-fan motor resistor, 1-water pump, 1-set of front pads &...

    Used Sprinter buyer beware

It's real illegal. I'm sure glad I had the guy fill out and sign a mileage certificate and kept it for my files. I'm covered..... I don't know about the Canadian laws though.

It seems to me that the whole point is return on investment. What you get for the investment of money in your equipment and your time. If someone were to ask you to work 70 hours a week and live in a tin can with no insulation and no heat for minimum wage or less you'd call him a slave driver or...

    Used Sprinter buyer beware

I sold my Sprinter earlier this year. It was getting a little long in the tooth and the transmission was completely dead. It seemed like a bad idea to invest a lot of money in it so I retired me and it. The guy who bought it was from Chicago and he was going to export it to Poland ( so he...

    It's ALWAYS racism

Oh @#**# I tried to ignore this one but I can't. I'm not openly racist but I guess I am to some extent as all people are. The thing is, I disagree with Obama and all his minions. Last time I checked it was legal in this country to disagree with anyone as long as you didn't infringe on their...

    Staying warm this winter?

I had a Wabasco heater. If I had to do it again I'd get the Espar. Nearly froze my buns off in Fargo. Probably wouldn't have hurt to loose a few layers but the overall sensation was quite unpleasant. I enjoy fooling around with batteries and inverters. It gave me something to do on layovers and...

    mackinac bridge area

You have to work a little to find Bessies but I assure you they make non-tourist pasties. They are the real thing. I have worked in and vacationed in the UP all my life and Bessies are among the best you can get. Even if they are just across the bridge.

    POLL: Exit The Industry

Just me, but I was getting pressure on the home front to retire, the Sprinter was beginning to cost a lot to run, and I was old enough to pull the plug. Things are quieter at home now and the Sprinter is gone but I never lost money and I miss the road. I miss the good people at expressway too...

    mackinac bridge area

We buy Pasties 10 at a time from "Bessies" in St Ignace. They freeze well and are as close to the real thing as you can buy. Can't go to the U.P. without stopping at Bessies for some fresh pasties and 10 to go. .........MMMMMMMMMMMMMgood.

    mackinac bridge area

I'd rather ride a motorcycle on a high wire than ride it through Chicago. I could have gone through Canada too but I lived in Charlevoix at the time and either option would have added tons of miles to the trip.

    mackinac bridge area

The picture on my signature line was taken at Straits State Park in St Ignace MI. That's on the north end of the bridge and the bridge is in the background. I get there and further north as often as possible. There is something special about the U.P. for me. I NEED to go there. ....Oh, and yes I...
