1 more for the Welfare State Known as Detroit

Can't speculate on that - maybe the programs offer nothing they see as beneficial? Or they're held in places or at times inconvenient? I have no idea why "many won't take advantage", but to assume it's laziness is to take the easy way, but not the fair or correct way, because you don't really...

Ouch - that really hurts. I expect you tried some 'creative' ways to make them fit, like laying them on their sides? Cause I've found ways to accommodate freight that 'didn't fit' before. Can't always make it work, but it's sweet when you find a way to do what they say can't be done, lol. ;)

1 more for the Welfare State Known as Detroit

As far as the report, I'm wondering if the Detroit Regional Workforce Fund is federally funded? Because this is ammunition in the battle of the budget - same as speeding tickets are for LEOs: it 'proves' they need more money [or at least, not less, when cuts are threatened.] And how many of the...

The only role religion should play in education is to offer it to those who choose a religious education - otherwise, they have no business in anyone else's schooling.

    Garden Corner 2011

Just look for the one formulated for fruits & veggies. There is also one for flowers, [ the original is for grass], as they require different nutrients. It's really great for the tomatoes, which need as much food as the avg teenage boy, lol. :D

Using Hair for a drug test

You must have one helluva high threshold for pain tolerance, lol. Having been a nurse and surgical patient, just the thought of foregoing appropriate pain medication postoperatively makes me shudder. If we have come to the point where we're afraid to take legally prescribed medication as...

Ready To Pay More For The Privilige of Driving?

As Greg said, the lack of money that officials [like Mr LaHood, whose grasp of reality we are all too familiar with] bemoan is not due to a lack of money paid by citizens for the specific purpose, it is that the very same officials [and their predecessors] raided the "dedicated" funds for other...

Defund NPR Topic From Another Thread

And I'm guessing the opportunity to improve the negative image of truckers just crashed and burned.

Defund NPR Topic From Another Thread

I missed it as well, but I doubt he got anything beyond a bad impression. When someone from NPR asks for truckers' opinions on several subjects, [none of which were NPR], and what he gets are comments that "NPR should be defunded [because they're 'too liberal']" how intelligent do we look? There...

Using Hair for a drug test

This scenario happens EVERY DAY with drunk drivers - how much 'inconvenience' does any [average] driver have to go through because of it? How many prevention programs exist to address the issue?

To Those of Us That Miss TJ'S Video

That driver is scarier than Freddie Krueger - word. And the DOT drug tests me?!!!! Wow.

Something of Historic Proportion is Happening" by Pam Geller

"All's fair in love and war" is a pretty stupid saying, IMO, and totally untrue, besides.[Just had to get that out of my system, ok?] Yes, he does - we all do. But suggesting his question is trolling, or ought to have been a PM, is unjustified, IMO. Pilgrim made a public statement, and it's fair...

After the miles you racked up last week, that's good to hear, lol. I'm heading for Decatur in the AM, don't think there's a lot of tornado damage there, will find out tomorrow.

    The Boom America is Forfeiting

I wonder how many of the unemployed would be capable of working in the oil/gas industries - [I've known a few roughnecks in Louisiana and Texas - they're not your 'average' guys, right?] and how the US would look when they get busy drilling and mining. Maybe the flora, fauna, and scenery are...

Something of Historic Proportion is Happening" by Pam Geller

And I've asked Layout dozens of questions that never got an answer.... Is being a driver a prerequisite for membership, now? Because there are others who have said they aren't expediters [Brisco comes to mind], and no one tried to make them feel unwelcome - but maybe that's because they're on...

    non expedite freight?

I wonder, too, how much is truly expedited, because I've been getting an impression for the past couple years that the shippers are more interested in exclusive use than in a timeframe. Dispatch bids it as 'rush' freight, but the customer doesn't seem to care so much about that - he just doesn't...

    Garden Corner 2011

Neither does bean dip, come to that, but I like it anyway. If the yellow ones taste good, you could always add food coloring...[it's the streaky red/yellow ones that grossed me out. And pink - tomatoes should not be pink!]

Using Hair for a drug test

But which has the potential to wreak greater havoc on the economy? And I included all elected officials, not just Congress....from city to county to state to federal - every last one of them, because they caused the mess.

Attaboy! I wouldn't want to work for someone who had a problem with pitching in to help those who truly need it: "If not me, then who?" is a quote that comes to mind. Someday, the shoe very well could be on the other foot.....
