We ran the new unit along with the laptop. The new unit is by far more accurate than the laptop system. We really liked the feature that informed you what lane to get into in advance of a road change. It was always spot on and really made it an easy go.

Those log books are also used in the case of a tax audit. They are a hard copy record of the days you claimed your per deim for. I wonder what the IRS has to say on this issue?
