Everyone is different Phil. We spend FAR more on the road than at home. We seldom eat at restaurants at home, they are a punishment. We prefer home cooked, more so with relatives. We also have an ample supply of venison, duck and fish in the freezer so I spend less.

Yeah, but video games and casinos are not valid business expenses connected with staying out. They likely spend equal money at home for entertainment. I don't do video games OR gamble but spend a good bit on hunting and fishing, more so when home.

You are not taking into account the wear and tear on a van for that 600 mile run. That has to be added into the cost. As cheri said too, that is 10-11 hours not resting, but working. Just needs to be accounted for.
