    What kind of Cb

I have a Northstar 4000 That I bought new in 1998 with 320 channels, puts out close to 50 watts, factory connex board,10khz, etc. I also run a Wilson 5000 magnet-mount on the roof of the van.I used to have a Gray linear hooked up to it that would put out close to 1,000 watts also. It was...

    Watch your P's & Q's NOW

After breifly looking at this site provided regarding the new rules, I would think that vans would not fall under this radar just yet, making them possibly more valuable and useable to a company.

Class 8 Straight Truck or Smaller?

It should be more like if you are buying the fuel, go with the more efficient truck. As far as ride goes, I have had some class 7's that rode better than a stretched class 8.

    steer tire mileage

Before I got rid of the s/t I was also strongly considering Donvel air-ride for the front as well, have heard nothing but good about this system.Well worth the money, especially for a team operation, makes sleeping alot more enjoyable going down the road.

Who is making ends meet at 70 cpm?

Now, see, Mr Ice Road Trucker, that is the way I feel also, only for the semi guys.Even though step-deck and expedite semi freight should pay alot more than standard freight. But it is when I look at the ads for like England,Hunt, etc, proudly stating pay of .85-.95 cpm I just shake my head in...

Who is making ends meet at 70 cpm?

Based on .20 x 2,000 loaded miles a week, it sure doesnt leave much for the cargo van fleet owner after everything is said and done.

    steer tire mileage

On the 10-wheeler I used to have, I ran 16-ply continental steer tires. What a difference it made for the handling and overall performance.Plus, it was right at 14,200# full of fuel empty on the steers.Too much truck to be made a 10-wheeler.If I was to order a new truck, I would get 12r 22.5...

Who is making ends meet at 70 cpm?

Yes, I understand what you are saying, and agree. The cost of ownership and repairs are the only thing keeping me from purchasing one.It really is an awesome van, ride, quietness, fuel mileage, room, etc.I really think that the american automakers are missing the boat on not having something like...

Transmission fluid as an engine flush?

This is for my girlfreinds son's pickup, not my van. But another question is this, generated by something that Greg has mentioned on this thread, that there is a right and wrong way to flush a transmission. I was thinking about taking the van and getting the trans. flush service done to it...

Who is making ends meet at 70 cpm?

Yes, OVM, .70 will run someone operating a Sprinter in the ground for awile, but not a standard cargo van.I am not trying to bash you or other Sprinter guys out there,But with the high cost of maintenance and ownership of a Sprinter, that extra $$ is needed, I feel, to make what a regular cargo...

Transmission fluid as an engine flush?

If it was me, I'd just get another engine, rebuild it, and then switch it with the old one in the truck, saving down time. But to each his own, right?

Transmission fluid as an engine flush?

I failed to mention the reason why.He has a lifter that sticks once in awile on his 86 dodge pickup with a 318 with 41,000 original miles on the truck. It sat for awile without being run.It runs fine now, but once in awile the lifters clatter.I suggested putting new lifters in it and being done...

Transmission fluid as an engine flush?

My girlfreinds son wants to use transmission fluid as an engine flush, as advice from a relative. What are everyone's thoughts and theories on this? Although the detergent in the transmission fluid sounds like a good idea, I don't think this is a good idea.

    3/4 or 1 ton

Listen to Greg !!!! As for a Sprinter, I'd love to have one, but the repair and maintenance expenses are a little too high for me, from what I am reading on here.

    19mpg in a van

Okay, youre all convincing me to go synthetic, even though I am not too comfortable leaving oil in an engine that long. What synthetic oil do I get to be equivalent to the 15w40? I change my oil every 5k now.In the spring, I'll do the trans and rear end.How much is it a gallon? My van takes 16...
