    January in Load 1 Nation

Apparently there are a lot of people out there who are so overjoyed by the fact that fuel is down 10 cents a mile that they think it makes perfect sense to bid freight down 15-20 cents a mile. Or more

    Cargo Van Insurance rates

Yeah, all Progressive truck insurance customers are in the same pool. The pool needs to be as large as possible so that Progressive can minimize their own risk.

    2011 GMC Penske Box Van.

Vehicles that have a GVWR of 10,001 pounds or more are Commercial Motor Vehicles, which means you will need a DOT Medical Card and you will have to log and scale and comply with all the other FMCSA Rules and Regulations just like a big truck. Because it's not over 26,000 pounds you won't need a...

    Cargo Van Insurance rates

If the insurance carrier only insures the 75 truck fleet and the single owner operator, then being able to recoup in a year from within that pool becomes very important. But the pool for insurance carriers is much larger than 75 or 76 trucks. Insurance is basically a group of people agreeing...

    Where in the world

Well, there's the Miccosukee Casino on the west side off US 41 as you head out the Tamiami Trail. On the north side in Davie there's the really big and really nice 595 Truck Stop at I-595 and US 441 right by the Florida Turnpike. That's definitely the best truck stop in South Florida, maybe...

South Dakota might shelve spring forward and fall back

They do on the East Side, too. I'm saying, what if the legislation only affected the West side.

South Dakota might shelve spring forward and fall back

I think it should be an East Side versus West Side thing. The West Side doesn't change the clocks, the East Side does, and all Hell breaks loose.

Thanks, but no need to apologize. Walmart, burger flipper, we've heard 'em all. :p Hopefully some of the straight truck teamers will chime on in what you are likely to make in a straight truck. It's considerably closer to that $80,000 figure you're after. But it does require more commitment...

is the any money doing this

It's all relative. Depends on your needs and your definitions. In the cargo van sector it's astonishing. Fifty percent are gone within 6 months, eighty percent within a year. But all you need is a cargo van and keys and you're all set to make some easy money. Anybody and everybody can drive a...

    Are Cargo Vans profitable?

Because it's mostly low risk and low effort. The "I want it now!" generation isn't gonna suck anything up for a year, so the easy money (they think) in a cargo van is far more appealing than going through the expenses and thoroughly exhausting rigors of truck driving school.

is the any money doing this

Only if you use it as a food truck, with really good food, or use it to distribute illegal drugs. An excellent year for a cargo van is averaging 1500 miles in a week. Team or solo doesn't matter. At 48 weeks in-service that's 72,000 miles in a year. At 90 cents a mile that's $64,800 gross...

    Are Cargo Vans profitable?

Being that you're a total greenhorn... You can probably put up with anything for a few months. If you can, my advice (or at least something to strongly consider) would be to suck it up and team for a while. You'll learn more teaming with someone in 3 months than you will in a year on your own...

    Planned Parenthood's Problem vs. Capitalism

Under Texas law, someone can be charged with tampering with a governmental record if he or she “makes, presents, or uses any record, document, or thing with knowledge of its falsity and with intent that it be taken as a genuine governmental record.” They presented fake California driver's...

    bmv record question

Absolutely. In 1990 I was arrested on trumped up charges by a former employer who got mad because I quit (and because I stole his girlfriend months after quitting). The sheriff who called me and told me to come down to the station so I could be arrested knew it was BS, and so did the judge. The...

    Are Cargo Vans profitable?

Yeah, I get all that. I never said cargo vans aren't profitable. In fact, the first 5 words of my post said the exact opposite of that. All I said was, splitting cargo van revenue between an owner and a driver is probably the least profitable way to be in this business. I didn't say it...
