Glenn Beck Goes 'Over the Line' by Mocking Malia

Nope, don't know you. Anyone in here could be a he/she or it, could they not? I was not commenting on that, only the definition. You are allowed to be anything you want. :D

Ok, thanks, I did not know that.

This was my SECOND level one this year already. One in California and this one in North Carolina. This second one they had me cut the seal on my load to inspect how I had my freight secured. It was a hazmat load, going to Canada. I got many kudos for my work. Good to know that I do that right...

    1.20 /mile expedite freight

At that rate I would be out of business in months. It costs me about $2000 to 3000 a year to remain a TVAL truck. That is taking all costs over several years into play. I put out that money if I run TVAL loads or not. Those are expenses REQUIRED by FedEx. I guess, since I have all this stuff...

If you were female would there not be yet another definition of "broad minded"? :p

Ok, they count, I thought that they did. Now then, what about that fancy sticker that shops put on the inside of your door? Is that required? I have been told yes by some, no by others. The roadside people don't put them on, so one would assume that they are not required yet this latest roadside...

If they went to flat rates they would most likely need 2 to 4 "flat" rates. One rate for a surface truck with no lift gate pallet jacks etc. One for a non-temp controlled white glove truck, on for non-TVAL reefers and one for TVAL trucks. Higher rates for loads that cross into "E" truck weights...

That is what I was told. I guess that the carriers just assume that all those roadside inspectors are certified to inspect brakes. This entire thing was prompted by FedEx not allowing SpeedCo DOT inspections because they would not or could not sign the brake inspection part of the DOT form...

    Fed dropping its standards?

This thread is producing FAR too much personal information that we really don't need to know!!

Do you know your break even point for you truck? Do you have payments? Do you drive for an owner? If so, have you talked to him/her about what loads you should be taking?

We are in agreement there as well. He scares the "stuffing" out of millions in this country, myself included. I also believe that he would not hesitate to incite violence or use violence to further his drive for power. Much of what he says is very scary too, as is what he does not say.

I did not say it was OK, just that is how it is. Obama gets paid to do the same thing. They are all "fear mongers".

Are you solo? Team? White Glove? Surface? I don't know much about solo work and do few surface loads. Most of those loads don't even reach our break even point. We take them if they pay enough or will take a slightly lower pay to get us home or to a better area.

I don't listen to Beck so I don't know anything about his encouraging of violence. As to his preying on peoples weaknesses, their fears, is that not what all politicians do, including Obama, to get elected? That hyping up of fears on issues is the main battle plan of most of those out there...

Who do you run with? We could not make a living in this truck at $1.20 per mile. We would go broke and fast. We seldom take anything near that low. Some trucks could make a living at that under the right conditions.

    Favorite Places to Eat

The Michigan Bar and Grill on Monroe Street in Monroe Michigan. Good food, nice place, fair prices and enough to take it back to the truck for a second meal. For a nicer time, more expensive, small with outstanding food try the Frog Leg Inn located in Erie, Michigan. Don't forget the...

    Brake techs and DOT

Moose wanted to answer a question I posted in a thread in the FedEx forum so I am posting it in here. When you get a "roadside" DOT level one inspection the inspector does NOT sign the "brake inspector" certification that is required. Is it just assumed that they are certified to do that job? I...

    We need a Major Conflict

Well Greg, maybe you did not have to face it but millions did. There were Niki bases all around Detroit. We had one in Riverview where I was raised. They were all around most major cities in the U.S. I remember, and so my wife, practicing "duck and cover" under our school desks. Training for a...

    We need a Major Conflict

You may be right, but at least I will go to my grave knowing that I did all that I could to stop what is about to happen. You cannot blame me. The rest of you can just look in the mirror if you want to see just who is to blame. Maybe, just maybe, if the people of this nation had spent 1 tenth...
