    You should just die

Emotion is a huge factor, when technology can permit a life to be sustained even in direct opposition to the patient's wishes - I've seen too many people whose DNR [do not resuscitate] orders were overriden by a distraught family member who refuses to let their loved one go. A lot of resources...

    Multiple Choice Survey

What ^he^ said. Just because I hafta have one, doesn't mean I hafta hear it - I'm opposed to noise pollution in all it's evil forms!

    Major endorsement for Obama

Life is a circle. [The Lion King] No life is A hwy I'm gonna ride it all night long L.O.L. [Tom Cochrane] Life is like a box of chocolates... [Winston Groom] No wonder we never solve any arguments, lol. :p

    Question?

The question was "Based on this artical [sic]" and the article didn't say a word about Obama or Congress. Based on the 4 minute gap between question & reply, I think it's safe to assume that you didn't read the article - just jumped in to provide the same comment as 1000000 times before. Of...

Question from a potentially new husband/wife straight truck team

Using the advanced search, I found numerous threads that ask & answer the question of how to take the CDL test without having to go to school. Several suggest renting a truck [but you'd need a licensed driver to rent one with airbrakes], some suggest third party test sites [may work with you to...

Big Bang: Is there room for God?

I believe Pandora's link [thanks for that!] is the study I remember, because it was the largest and most credible of the numerous attempts to answer the question. The bottom line is the final quote in the story, from the director of the Institute that provided the prayers for the study...

    October Locations and Banter

Ken: let Juju mother you for a while, and consider it a warning: do what the docs suggest [diet & exercise wise] cause we'd like you to stick around, ok? And not just to poke, either, though that's pretty reliable fun on a slow day. ;)

    How about a helping hand?

RG is so similiar to EO that it seems duplicative to be a member of both, IMO. [Or I just don't have the patience to say the same thing twice, lol.] And I believe the reason EO does so well is the unique blend of wise men and wise guys here - and that both feel comfortable. That's pretty hard to...

Big Bang: Is there room for God?

I replied to the pm, but I wanted to add something: I read of a study done years ago by a group who wanted to establish whether prayer makes a difference in the recovery of sick people. They were hoping to prove that it does, not just because it fit their agenda, but because it's such a...

    Where Is The Outrage?

All you need to remember to distrust the media's reporting is that they all keep referring to Zimmerman as a Neighborhood Watch volunteer, when he wasn't - he never bothered to enroll in the actual program, nor did the Homeowners Association of the complex where he lived. It's like picking up a...

EO Member Passes Away in Accident

****. It's hard enough to lose people who have lived a long and full life, but both these guys were too young to die. **** again. :(

Big Bang: Is there room for God?

Humble said it better, but it's what I'm asking, too. I've read of the scientists who changed from atheism/agnosticism over time, but in every case, their reasons were on the order of "It's too complex" or "Too awesome" or some other subjective feeling. I can respect their feelings, but it's...

    Sad day for Panther

http://obits.mlive.com/obituaries/baycity/obituary.aspx?n=james-priest&pid=160583674 Thanks, Dave. The obituary mentions a fiancee and two kids, but nothing about a survivors fund, so perhaps they're doing ok without additional help.

Big Bang: Is there room for God?

Upon what evidence do you support your conclusion that "this isn't a giant cosmic accident"? I am aware of the evidence that supports the opposite conclusion, but if there's any that supports 'creationism' [or whatever you wish to call it], I haven't seen it, so please share.

    Sad day for Panther

"Bashing Panther"? Where did you see that? Panther isn't responsible for the accident - though they can expect to be named in any legal action arising from it, which is why they say nothing, and that's a wise choice. When I wondered why carriers don't use such accidents as part of their safety &...

    Nice to be back

Welcome back! I don't have a PrePass, but scales aren't really that big a problem, IMO, though others feel differently. The EZ Pass for tolls is the one I don't leave home without.

    Sad day for Panther

I posted it in hopes of getting some information that might be helpful, but I guess not... I sort of understand why carriers prefer to keep silent when it happens, [legal liability?] but I still think there could be a lesson for us in knowing what happened and how. Or maybe just a reminder...
