Practices That Maintain The Carrier/Contractor Relationship In Oregon

The Oregon deal was a government money grab attempt by the state employment department. They were looking for millions of dollars in back unemployment taxes. FedEx Ground in California was different, in that it was the drivers who initiated the lawsuit. Employees trigger a litany of federal...

    Who's at Fault?

The bus driver (who was fired, BTW) for crossing a solid yellow line and aggressive driving. The FedEx driver for Road Rage (FedEx is investigating). But the biggest crime is the portrait, instead of landscape, video.

I have three trucks and no clue help me please

I'm not sure where in CT you are, but it won't really matter. The northeast just isn't a hotbed of expedited freight, since expedited freight is primarily manufacturing. There is some, to be sure, however. But most of it goes to the Midwest. I have had times when I've bounced back and forth...

    The Trump Card...

I dunnnoooo. Ontario and and Quebec seems to look for ways to screw Alberta, going back to the tariff walls where they instituted high tariffs on tractor production in Alberta to promote tractor production in Ontario. Canada’s overall demographic situation is similar to the rest of the...

I have three trucks and no clue help me please

Expediting is over the road. Go where the freight takes you. Your best bet for money is you and your wife to team in the straight truck and plan to be gone from home for 2-3 months at a time. I recommend first reading as much on here as you can, and ask questions. That way you will better...

    Damn... Another damn noob!

Teams are preferred because the truck isn't limited by miles or hours. That's not to say the truck will be running 24/7, as there will often be times where you sit 1-3 days between loads. Not as often with a straight truck team as with a solo, but it happens more often than people coming from...

    The Trump Card...

He favoured Ontario and Quebec, Newfoundland a little bit, with the rest of Canada be damned. It's why those opposed to his precious NEP, especially those in Alberta, bacronymed Petro-Canada to be "Pierre Elliott Trudeau Rips Off Canada." Canadian natural resources constitutionally fall within...

Why sprinter over a cargo van?

I don't have a problem with most of them. I can just stay clear of the annoying overhangs at the speaker (at most places) and at the window I'll keep my distance and get out of the Sprinter and take the couple of steps to the window. I rarely use a drive-thru when the dining lobby is open, however.

    Mechanical White Smoke

If I'm not mistaken, and I certainly could be, when white smoke belches from the exhaust at startup, and not at normal operating speed and temperatures, it is usually due to deposits around the piston rings. Condensation in the fuel line can also cause it. It happens in a diesel engine when the...

Why sprinter over a cargo van?

The ease and low cost of maintenance. :jester: The biggest benefit is that so few carriers will even take on a cargo van these days. When a Sprinter leaves the fleet, they have no interest in replacing it with with a cargo van.

    The Trump Card...

The response would be to shut off the switch going the other way, as well. And knowing Trump, he'd flip all the switches. Just close the border. Pierre Trudeau was a disaster for Canada. He had Alberta wanting to leave Canada and join up with Montana. They still don't like Ottawa much out there...

    The Trump Card...

I also like how the press is falling all over itself to report the negative comments that Colin Powell has about Trump, but is largely silent on Powell's comments regarding Hillary, like, "Everything HRC touches she kind of screws up with hubris." Ouch!

    The Trump Card...

Here it is again. New poll, new article. Trump Halves Clinton's Lead First paragraph quickly points out that "Hillary Clinton is leading Donald Trump by 5 points nationally, according Quinnipiac University poll, which showed Clinton ahead by 10 at the end of August." Then it goes on to list the...

Fuel for Thought Are you a LLC?

It cracks me up how many people will refuse to pass you using the far left lane on a 3 lane road. You're in the middle lane, not impeding traffic at all, and here comes someone in the middle lane behind you, and they will not move to the left lane to pass. They will wait until it's clear, then...

Batteries Puny Powerhouses - Jump Starter Packs

It has to do with how a jump starter works, versus how a charger works. For jump starts, it's about joules, which is power supplied over time, much more than cold cranking amps or something like that. Most of the Lithium-Ion battery pack jump starters are essentially a 12000 mAh battery, just a...
