There's many reasons for that - some legitimate [the really powerful unions are as corrupt as the powerful corporations they originally fought against] but some have more to do with perception, driven by PR, bought & paid for by those whose interests don't align with the unions, and intimidation...

I don't have any mags or books - how about asking, next time you go, whether they would accept a box of microwave popcorn & hard candies [all individually wrapped] for general distribution? If so, plenty of drivers would drop off a box at a nearby VA hospital, while on layover.....

As Los says, "thank you for serving" has become as empty as "how are you?" and "have a nice day", but some are saying it with actions as well. Like Susie, whose truck is a moving [in both senses of the word] tribute. Others, including myself, have sent 'care packages' to soldiers serving...

Perhaps you could include some reading material that describes how women felt about having babies until their uteri fell out, or how it felt to be pregnant & unmarried in the 50's, sent to a 'home for unwed mothers' and forced to give birth, then give the baby [and those were babies] up for...

I tried, [because the whole "Reading is fundamental" concept cracked me up] but it says Windows doesn't recognize the file protocol..... Muttly: I'm sure a lot of Dems would just love for Ann Romney to run, [as a Repub, of course] too - but the Mass Repubs thought of it first. ;)
