What is more comfortable after driving 700 miles a straight truck or sprinter?

I don't recall the 2005 Sprinter I had being all that uncomfortable. Admittedly, I had thought about getting one of those air seats from a TT, but thought it might not work well because of not having a reliable air supply. Still, drove several hundred miles in mine without ill effect just with...

    Mlk day

Mostly, this is one of those "gub'mint" holidays. Banks closed, schools closed, government offices closed. No mail delivery. Most everybody else open unless some union-negotiated day off.

Has your truck ever killed your Cell phone?

I wonder-- could the cigarette/power socket be wired backwards? Would the cell-phone charger even work if it were plugged into a power socket that was wired backwards? Could the cell-phone charger be wired backwards? It's possible that one slipped by quality control, I suppose. Edit: It's...

    why

I wonder if you can sell tickets to this. Maybe get that guy with the wild hair to be the "colorman." "It's the Battle of the Grammar Nazis! No holds barred, iron cage match! Keep the children away, we wouldn't want to warp their minds. Beer served in unimaginable quantities, come one come all!"

Has your truck ever killed your Cell phone?

I'm just offering a couple of possibilities based on personal experience. I've had an alternator go wild, it suddenly started sending 20+ volts through the system. I was close to home and that was a good thing, I had to disconnect the alternator and drive home on battery power that night...

Has your truck ever killed your Cell phone?

I've had a cell phone of some type or another since the mid '90s. I can't say I've ever had one of my vehicles kill a cell phone. I can understand one scenario where it might happen, and that's if the voltage regulator goes bad. If it sticks "on" the alternator may go wild and send upwards of...

    Sprinter box cargo gwvr

That thing has got a 14' box and dual rear wheels. It's going to attract attention from the bears. Better believe you want all your i's dotted and t's crossed in that one.

    C/V weight limits

Pickup-- say no more. I've seen some insanely loaded pickup trucks. Scrap metal guys will load so heavy and so high that you wonder what on Earth they're thinking.

    A rarity, a legitimate lawsuit

I'm a little short on firepower. But, for close work I have a couple of hammers and a crowbar handy. Admittedly poor choices if the bad guy is heeled, but--- one thing you guys sometimes don't think about is that if the other guy is heeled, going for your gun when he already has his aimed at you...

    why

This type of thing happens so often that I think most of it is scamming. Some may be real, but--- really, a person gets out onto the Indiana Tollway, nearest exit is twenty miles back thataway, and he's begging for gas money at the oasis???? Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, by the...

    C/V weight limits

About being pulled over: In the vans, I would imagine a lot of that has to do with how the van looks to the officer. If it looks overweight, he'll want to check. My van can be close to it's limits without showing "heavy". I've seen vans when I was doing courier work that pulled out resting on...

Strange insurance question. What's your opinion. My front wheel fell off

When were these bearings last maintained??? That will be important if push comes to shove. If you can show regular maintenance it will be a lot better than if it shows that you never looked at it from when it was new. I would expect the insurance adjuster to ask about this.

    Garmin question.

How do I get rid of the extra voices and so on??? It seems to have come from the factory with excess junk, and so help me I don't know how you get rid of the garbage. Tom-Tom made that easy, but the Garmin doesn't seem to allow for dumping excess.

    Garmin question.

I bought a Garmin Nuvi 465 a few months back. When I updated the thing, it wouldn't take the full North American continent, so I settled for the Lower 49 NE selection since this contains the places I've been to so far. It has nothing West of the Rockies, though, and it goes without saying it...

Anyone else in a van stuck in Chicago?

If Joliet is far away, Morris is beyond the edge of the Earth. Not bad for a quickie stop, but I wouldn't want to stand by there waiting for something out of Chicago. I'll second OVM's suggestion about the Wal-Marts. One that comes to mind is near Lake St (US 20) and Interstate 355 in Addison...

    Semi hits van 2 dead.

MAAAA!!!! It's happened again!!! A guy pretending to be a newbie resurrects a thread that's older than dust (no small feat for those of us with "whiskers") and then gives himself away even further by his comment to Turtle. Yep, it's Apax or I'm mistaken. There's never an oak stake when you...

Anyone else in a van stuck in Chicago?

Chicago being what it is: Position can be vital. This guy was in Joliet. That puts him in a bad spot if the pickup is in Kenosha and the "other guy" is in Skokie. I'm thinking here of that hour of time difference.

Anyone else in a van stuck in Chicago?

I live here. Villa Park is a Western suburb of Chicago, so I can say---- it happens. There's quite a bit of variable here. I've been number 1 and sat for three days-- I've been number 4 and got called before 10:00 in the morning (I call dispatch every day about 8:30 or so). When it's slow it...

    A rarity, a legitimate lawsuit

Skyraider, I have to ask. Does that ADT system have some kind of battery back-up in case of power failure, and does it rely on a landline to notify the authorities in case of trouble? Sooner or later someone is going to ask because this is a potential Achilles Heel of the alarm system. It won't...
