I think you would find that many of the States that have CCW laws have similar wording in them. I think that CCW laws are in themselves unconstitutional or at least unneeded. We already have a right to carry in the US Constitution.

The CCW law in Michigan requires that a person must inform police that they are carrying if indeed they are. There is no "required" wording. The basis is to provide protection for both police and the individual. I think it is silly but that is the law.

The wording may be unique to Ohio but not the requirement to notify. Michigan requires an individual who is carrying a concealed weapon to inform police if stopped.
