They really never left. Once an Expediter always a Expediter. Glen and Jan just Expedite house hold goods now. The job Glen does now is a hard job and my hats off to him.
Before I stated in Expediting, I was a manager in the Rent to Own business in the daytime and a Manager/pizza delivery driver at night for Domino's Pizza. Rent To Own and Pizza Delivery was some wild and crazy times.
I think the best thing to do if you want to run for many different carriers is to get your own dot numbers and run as a back up carrier for many different ones. The only thing is you may be getting all the loads that their drivers don't want.
Well, all carriers are short on trucks if you have 1/3 of their fleet out of service everyday. This is part of the business, if you don't want your carrier to add alot of trucks stay in service more.
People who know me know I'm all about rewarding the drivers that do a great job. I have tried many things over the years to reward our drivers. No matter what you do someone finds fault with it.
How many people get their Oil changed at the TA or Petro when your out on the road away from home? If you don't can you say why? Do they have your fuel and oil filters in stock?
Having 7 trucks with 6 of them having CAT Motors I have never had any problems with CAT.
I would get it out of Freightliner and get it to a CAT dealer. For a truck that don't have that many miles on it you would think this wouldn't be a problem.
