    Cargo box strength?

I think Weave covered it all. Don't forget to check support members for alot of rust damage. Seems to be common on alot of them

    expediting out of oklahoma

Panther and fedex are probably the largest that run freight out of OK and TX. I do occasionally see conway from time to time

    Tri-State: Fact or Fiction

It is no secret I have been very critical of TS practices. Their efforts to change have reaffirmed my earlier posts. It is encouraging to see a change from a company that was giving their drivers a bad deal. I would make sure if one decides to get involved with them, to get everything in...

    a different style truck

Hopefully I can give a little insight to the RV/expediter. Tony is right in the fact some get way over there heads in truck costs and payments. We bought a used (repo) truck for $50,000 and have no payments. The first owner thought he was Dale Earnhardt Jr. and went bankrupt after 3 months...

    a different style truck

alot of drivers may be interested in this setup. What do they cost new? We like the shower and bathroom in ours and it could help the fleet owners in being able to retain or recruit drivers. We wouldn't run a truck without it now. We have gotten way too spoiled I think.

Well, the cart is officially ahead of the horse!

RE: Well, the cart is officially ahead of the hors For what it is worth on wiring. Never use those blue plastic connectors. Waste of effort and money. Our truck had a couple of those and had to replace them. I would go with sealed harnesses and led lights. If you have to make a connection, I...

    Express-1 versus Panther II

whatever your setup is, make sure you don't exceed 40 ft. in length. For what it is worth, our truck has a 125" sleeper and a 18 ft box. As fuel is going up our fuel surcharges are climbing. Depending on the customer they have been averaging .09 to .11 cents per mile. But the are a few customers...

    Up Front Costs

Your owner should be giving you a comdata card to advance load money on for fuel and food ect. That comdata card can be set for whatever percentage you and the owner agree on. This is inportant to ensure you have money to run on. If the owner refuses, I would look for another owner. He must...

Well, the cart is officially ahead of the horse!

RE: Well, the cart is officially ahead of the hors looks like a nice ride! love the stretch idea. let everyone know how it goes. Of course I am partial to my kw300 but your idea will beat a high dollar class 7 as Weave stated.

    Everybodies $.02 worth please

crash Seems like the ones who most often are to crash in this business are confronted with personal misfortunes, wanting to be home often, mismanage their finances, or overspend on a truck

    PantherII, solo, D unit drivers?

unless it is a regional operation, teams are becoming more of a priority to carriers. They also gain more profit and customer retention from team operations. As the driver pool keeps shrinking more emphasis will be on teams. I had heard some companies are going to stop recruiting singles and go...

    Express-1 versus Panther II

I should clarify. Straight trucks make between 1.35 and 1.20 plus fuel surcharge depending on when you signed on. Note; truck must be able to haul 9000lbs

    FL80 pulling to the right

last set of steers were bridgestone. Got 200,000 out of them. They were R295. Changed them to the new R280. Stay away from R227's. Alot of fleets use them but they are not great for winter running. For whatever it is worth, I use the centramatics and have had good results with wear. Only have...

    Express-1 versus Panther II

We are with Panther currently. Unless something has changed, they pay the most with the greatest coverage. There are exceptions, such as fedex pays more with there whiteglove ect, but requires additional equiptment. (liftgate, reefer, tag axle). I am not sure what panther pays now, but it was at...

    M2 problems

I personally would stay away from anything that has to do with a freightliner dealership!!!There is a few good ones, but are far outnumbered by the poor ones.

    3126 rebuild

The $15,000 price was just numbers that were posted some time back as to the replacement cost. Not the cost of a new one from Ring Power. There are several places to get a brand new one under the $11,000 mark as well. I am like several others, shopping and weighing the options.

    is this a good deal

You need a 60/40 split if you are paying the fuel ect. And yes, Panther pays for the permits ect.

    3126 rebuild

I think the confusion is that the 3000 quote was a partial rebuild. Meaning, I think, nothing done or very little to the block. The rebuild that they have should have a little more clarity. They are using a new head, new turbo, new computer and replacing some of the wiring. If you are going new...

    3126 rebuild

Thanks Teacel, that explains it well. Just a footnote; the only reason he was suggesting a new or reman. turbo was to get it covered under the rebuild warranty. This is much longer than "just a turbo replacement warranty"
