I hadn't seen this anywhere else, but someone I know had a link to the story on his blog. Seems Conway Now will have a new division that delivers to retail stores. quote: "The new "final-mile" service, Con-Way Retail, offers local cross-docking, warehousing and final delivery of freight to...

    Idea!!!!

These are the bumper stickers that we have right now..... at least those would be good if everyone had those! They're about 4"x12" or so. Last time I heard, Lawrence still has plenty of them, drop him a PM or email with your request, and your mailing address. As for a personalized one, if...

    HOW DO YOU USE MIRRORS???

Just wondering what the call to dispatch went like..... "Um.... couldn't see because of the rain? um.. no.... " "Um.... snow was blowing too hard to see? um.. no...." "Um.... that curb jumped out of nowhere, grabbed my tires, and pulled me over... um.. no..." "Um... I dropped my beer, and by...

    cargo van OTR drivers

merkurfan, AWESOME! Thanks for sharing with us! That's my point exactly, with some time, work and ingenuity, there is no reason to not be comfortable in a van. Now, you are yet another example of the extreme you can go to, and still not have the hassle of a big truck. Thanks again for sharing...

    cargo van OTR drivers

Chip, There's no reason not to be comfortable in a van, it just takes a little more forethought, and ingenuity. For a few examples, check out this article, http://www.expeditersonline.com/artman/publish/article_001518.html This thread.. check out dieseldoctor's old van...

    I just checked out Hino

Someone had checked those out a while back. I tried to find it, but can't right now, for some reason. They look similar in size to an FL70, etc... the 338 model looks to be the one that would be used in expediting. http://www.hino.com/trucks/story_42.php But, as you said, a 2-3 year...

    Independent Contractor Status

Just a side note.. I was reading on that lawsuit..and it was brought up on a regular trucking site... one of the major points they're using in claiming to be employees.. Did you know, FedEX ground tells them which finger they are required to have their truck keys on when they are getting their...

    Cell Phones and your Opinions

Broompilot, Just to throw in an opinion here... I've had both Nextel and Verizon, and now have Sprint PCS. In my limited experience with Sprint, so far, it wins hands down. Clarity, connection, billing, range, have been much better. With Sprint, I get 4 bars, where I couldn't even use the...

    Trucks

Good answers TJ959, I just thought I'd jump in with the specific definitions according to FedExCC, which vary a little with each company, FedExCC is more specific than some others. A (Mini Van) Cargo payload capacity of 500 pounds 48" high door opening (minimum) 48" wide door (minimum...

    slow loads?

Merkurfan, Something you said there just struck me 'strange', as I've never heard that before... You said > Sometimes you can get dispatch to tell you >where the towns are that they dispatch out of. If you are to >far from one of those towns (over 50 miles) your truck won't >even show up...
