    Logs, Randoms and 34's

I talked with Terry at FedEx. He states the following: If you have a CDL you are able to be called for a random drug test 24/7 365 no matter what your duty status. If you are doing a 34 hour reset you have to go on duty and log it. If you do not have enough hours to drive to the collection site...

    It gets old

You do a PTI for a reason, to find stuff not working. Well, I did. No right tail light. No lights on the right side of the cargo box, top or bottom. The light on the left side of the box are flickering and dimming. It is dark, raining and I am not legal to drive anywhere. I just lost two loads...

    Logs, Randoms and 34's

No panic. We had no more hours left on our 70 hour clock. It needed reset and I just wondered how a random would affect that. Just lookin for answers. If I read that question correctly it would require me to log it, I would then have to start another 34 hour reset. That is, assuming I understand...

i am wondering was he at fault

The car was too close, nothing out of the norm there. Of course that car could have just as easily been passing that truck when that happened then he would not have been too close. It would be nice to have some kind of SAFE removal system. That is enough weight to make you be over weight and...

    Dang gum junk!!

Heading off to the Clink (clunk) shop in Atlanta in a few minutes to have my "electric brick" looked at. Nothing that could be done by remote was able to correct the problem.

Another 34 hours till we have legal time on our clock again. Under the new rules that could be a lot longer with the 12-6 rule. Or am I missing something? I know I don't understand this all that well.

    Egypt and Barry

I am under the impression that Sadat was killed by a faction of the "Muslim Brotherhood". They objected to his peace treaty with Israel. So the killed him.

Yeah, yelling about safety glasses when you need skis to get into the building. Makes sense.

Shippers that don't clear snow ice

Far too many times. It always amazes me just how little attention is paid to safety. It does not matter where you go, snow and ice removal just seems that it is no longer something that is normally done any more.

What? You are NOT perfect? LOL!! We just deal with it as it comes. Spend a lot of time on the phone dealing with it. Just how it is.

Shippers that don't clear snow ice

This is a very dangerous business. Care must be taken all the time. Mrs. Layoutshooter carries ice fishing spikes for her shoes in the winter. They help. Shippers seem to be less and less responsible with each passing year. They seem to have no regard for peoples safety. The way I look at it is...

    Waiting at the airport.... again.

Just the nature of the business. Stuff happens. Shippers mess up, carriers mess up. We just have to deal with it when it happens.

It happens with straight trucks all the time too.

Yep, sure is. I hope it does not bite him one day. I find I take fewer "chances" as I get older. I am no sure if that is just a function of age or knowing more. I made a lot of dumb moves when I was younger, I hope I learned from those mistakes.

Shippers that don't clear snow ice

Good points. As to having kids to feed, there is another thought on that. Who is going to feed them if you get killed? Being safe is never out of style. Knowing your limitations and the limitations of your equipment is part of safety. Knowing when roads are too bad to be on is part of safety...

You are correct, to each his own. My concern is newbies reading this. Safety should always be our first concern, the load is always secondary to safety.

I don't know the area all that well. All I know is that this motel is in Norcross. I live near Monroe, MI.
