Place you felt the least safe in

Heard that on radio this morning about the anniversary. That's just too good of a coincidence to let go by. :D

Place you felt the least safe in

On this date in 1951 the first comic strip of Dennis the Menace was published. He was not mincing garlic.

Do You Think You’ve Benefited From The ELD Mandate ?

What's your definition of "1 day"? Everybody else's is "24 hours."

    This is just brilliant.

    March of Load One

Turns out I was freaking out over nothing. They're hoping to have the freight ready by around 7AM Central, which is 8AM Eastern. :confused2:

Do You Think You’ve Benefited From The ELD Mandate ?

I don't think the ELD mandate has fundamentally altered freight volumes and rates. As much as anything, I think you can point to Trump's policies regarding regulations and taxes as being the largest factor in freight volumes and rates. Existing manufacturing plans are expanding and a few old...

    March of Load One

I have a pickup at 3AM in Terre Haute. Which is the exact instant Daylight Saving Time starts. The 3AM time is Eastern Time, which is 2AM Central Time, but 2AM won't exist tomorrow. I'm freakin' out.

    MC number

They did away with MC numbers. Replaced it with DOT numbers. But no, unless you haul HAZMAT, you don't need a DOT number or the old MC number .

    Avoiding toll roads

Most of the time the toll roads really are shorter and faster. That's why they were built. So, when time is tight, I'll do the tolls. Depending on time, of course, and where I'm going, I'll often take US 20 between Toledo and Cleveland instead of the Turnpike. US 20 west of Toledo not as...

    International Women's Day

Explain to me how it's the low road. I didn't disparage women in any way, shape or form. I disparaged McDonald's though, for their shallow, empty gesture designed to benefit them far more than women. BTW, today is National Meatball Day. Because men want their day, too. Incidentally, the...

    International Women's Day

Humor, for one. But it's also poking fun at McDonald's and the whole meaningless symbolism over substance thing. Flipping the arches did far more for McDonald's in free advertising than it did for women. Women aren't saying to McDonald's (and others), "Show me the W!" They're saying, "Show me...

    The Trump Card...

What is that supposed to accomplish? Is that supposed to signal your moral, ethical and intellectual superiority over... the White House Press Secretary? The Soapbox readers on EO? What? And other lame-assed name calling? It certainly doesn't foster debate. What's the point?

    The Trump Card...

Now you're just back to that whole posting links that make Trump look bad thing (bash Trump), in lieu of engaging in discussion about any of it. It's not productive, and it's not the topic. If you want to start a bash Trump thread, have at it.

    The Trump Card...

Excellent example of making an assumption to fill in a gap. I didn't attack the credibility of the source at all. Lawfare is an exceedingly credible source. I can't for the life of me fathom how you could conclude that I attacked their credibility, other than having the need to make an...

    The Trump Card...

To prevent reasonable people from differing on what a reasonable inference is, there's actually a legal definition for "reasonable inference." It is a rule of logic (deductive reasoning) applied to evidence in a trial, in which a fact is "proved" by presenting other "facts" which lead to only...

    The Trump Card...

I'm familiar with that one, too. 702 allows for the collection of foreign intelligence from non-Americans located outside the United States. 702 gives the intelligence community space to target foreign intelligence in ways that inherently and intentionally sweep in Americans’ communications, but...

    The Trump Card...

I know what circumstantial evidence is, thanks. I also know what a reasonable inference is. The thing lacking in the "pile" is the reasonable inference. Assumptions and wild, wishful leaps are not the same as reasonable inference.
