I believe you were right in what you did. We drive for Conway also and they do pay detention still. I don't know why Dave in dispatch would tell you that other than to get you to sit on the load for him. We sat on a load in NY for 9 hrs and got $100 for detention. Not sure if that is the norm...

I believe the best company for a solo with a 24ft truck would be Conway Now. We drive for them now and our best friend does also and he has been solo for over 2 yrs and runs good with them.

Well it all really depends on how much money you want to make. We usually go home for Christmas and New Year and stay out most of the rest of the year.
