    My Rant

Without some sort of action people will be killed. I am of the understanding that companies are no longer allowed to administer basic English tests. I go into factories and the "safety signs" now are displayed in "multiple" languages. The cost of doing such is substantial. Of course the...

    My Rant

I LOVED being a "Gandy Dancer". I started off on the track labor gang. Spiking rail, etc. Then learned track machine operator and finally moved up to switchman. I wish I could have stayed. I kept getting laid off. Bad times in Detroit in the early '70's.

    My Rant

YEAH, YEAH, YEAH. Let's see, in high school I dug ditches and cleaned bulldozer tracks at a land fill. I worked at Great Lakes Steel. I drove a school bus, cleaned schools, worked at a State Park, fought fires, ran on ambulance crews. Worked in management positions at both Cabela's and Gander...

This would NOT have been a "accident". Not knowing basic words is dangerous. Sad part is that my wife and I would have been likely found to be a fault, NOT the person who could not understand "MOVE NOW"!!

The National Security Agency. I served with the Army Security Agency for 3 years. 1970-73.

Nope, you read wrong, sorry. I got out of the army in June of 1973. Hired on with the "agency" in June of 1976. There have also been many times when I worked more than one job or worked a job and did volunteer firefighting/EMT etc.

And pageants are important? How many have ever been killed in one? 200? 300? over the years? Who gives a flip about silly stuff? What is your fixation with Spanish any way? Besides, that was London, not Great Lakes Steel. Pageant, that is a FUNNY one! :p

You knew which way to turn? Just asking, NOT arguing. I have worked in to many dangerous jobs to not see how this WILL be a problem. Tone? In Chinese? Good luck. I don't believe that all the injuries and deaths that a half a zillion languages spoken in dangerous occupations are going...

    My Rant

When I hired on at Great Lakes Steel, in 1973, I had to pass a written test. That test had on it basic math and ENGLISH. IF you could pass the test AND the interview, IN ENGLISH, you could get hired. Fail either, you could not. IF I owned a factory I would do the same. That IS how it was done...

It puts the entire crew in danger. People WILL die. People WILL be hurt. Again, is it worth that?

    My Rant

How radical is it when I was working on the railroad at Great Lakes Steel? When I shouted a WARNING in ENGLISH that a track crew was about to be hit by a train, they KNEW what I said and could move. Now, imagine the same circumstance with a crew where there are several languages spoken. Dead...

    My Rant

How do you intend to maintain a SAFE work place with multiple languages? Do we have to maintain a "corps" of multiple interrators in the work place? How do you intend to maintain cost effeciency with multiple languages? What about any attempt at unity? We all know how well multiple languages...

    The Cain Mutiny

IF the "victims" (that is IF they are) are unwilling to come forward they have no credibility. Clinton got a free pass because he was a Dumb-O-Crat. He is a PIG, but that is okee dokee if you spout the neoliberal swill.

Don't tell EnglishLady that!! LOL!! :p Shoot, they don't even speak "English" in North Yorkshire, England, let alone here. We have many of the same words, different spelling and often different meanings or uses for similar words.

    My Rant

The problem we had THAT day was NOT caused by someone who spoke Spanish. The person that led to the "rant" was oriental. I don't know from where. I don't speak Spanish, I also don't speak "English". I speak a language I call, 'Merican. Otherwise known as Standard AMERICAN English. (within...
