    MPG w/Chevy duramax

2kats... thanks very much. I have gotten good feedback about the duramax. I will look at them closely when it's time to buy again.. by the way, we are neighbors practically. I live just up the road in Nicholasville. Are you currently leased on with an expedite carrier? It would be...

    Sleeper With Slide-out

Looks pretty nice so long as another rig isn't parked too closely on the right hand side.

    Any info on try-hours

I, too, had a cargo van leased on with this company. It didn't work for me. Too few loaded miles.

    MPG w/Chevy duramax

In the next year or so I may be buying another 1-ton diesel van for expediting. My Ford E-350's w/7.3L diesel average around 18 mpg. However, since Ford discontinued the 7.3 diesel after the 2002 year model, I will be looking at different manufacturers this time around. I am particularly...

July 4th slowdown and the shutdowns

Phil... I agree we are free! It is the lure of the open road that keeps me coming back to expediting as an O/O. I accept the offers I like, come and go as I wish, all without being encumbered by the micromanagers found in most workplace situations. We are truly blessed to have so much choice...

    A Review of Express 1!!!

Blizzaerd, your post warms my heart. E-1's philosophy towards business has sevearal attractive features. I will look for subsequent posts by you. Keep us informed and hopefully other carriers will adopt some of these practices.

    back in the saddle again

Hello e/o friends... yesterday, while in Seville, I signed a new contract w/Panther as a solo owner/op. I have some mixed feelings about the state of expediting in the current market. Expediting can be like a beautiful lover or a cruel mistress. May God bless us all with safety, good health...

    vans, who has got what

Hi Jack Berry... I have been driving Ford E=350's w/diesel engine for past seven years. Gotta love the 7.3L Powerstroke. The 6.0 not so much. The last two Fords have a combined mileage of one million miles with no engine trouble whatsoever. Just normal maintenance. Did replace the rear axle...

    530 Panther vans?

Hello E/O friends... this week I was told by a recruiter that Panther has 530 cargo vans in their fleet currently. I wonder how this number compares to six months ago or even one year ago. Does anyone out there remember? I am scheduled to return to Panther next week as an owner/op and am...

    many happy returns

Thanks Mr Moot. Actually I am Kentuckian. Not Greek. But the language barrier persists with my accent and all. Very pleased to hear about your back to back pre-dispatched loads. I am gathering all the encouragement I can before putting my toes back in expediting soon.

    Midwest Expediting

Rigar, thanks for your input. But oh my gosh... $3900 is a huge amount to be owed or disputed. How did that come about? Did they just simply stop paying you or did this accumulate in increments over time? Were you a team operation or solo? Did they pay a fair fuel surcharge? No offense...

    Midwest Expediting

Trying to get info from veteran expediters about a company called "Midwest Expediting". I just read a recruiting advertisement about them and need more info. Can anyone shed some light on their operation for me? Pros and cons. Do they keep their owner/ops busy? Are they straight up with...

    many happy returns

Since I have been away from P2 for less than five months, I am unaware of a 16 hour clock being imposed on solo van drivers. Wouldn't the overall effect be the same as imposing HOS or logging upon the van driver? Is this true? If so, how is it working out for the much maligned soloist?

    many happy returns

Thanks Turtle, I always enjoy reading your posts. I hope your'e just kidding about the 16 hour clock for vans w/Panther. If it's true, it will be a huge impediment for me to overcome. When I am at home I often run to the store or post office or doing errands in my van. Are you saying if I...

    new to expedited

Hi Perkey, I grossed $60k last year w/Panther as a solo operator in a van. That was for approx 48 weeks availability with 4 weeks off. Of course fuel was much cheaper last year. I have been away from expediting the last 4 months and plan to return July 1st. Good luck to you.

    many happy returns

Thanks Moose, I drove a cargo van as an owner/op with Panther and plan to return around July 1st. I will stay with a van chiefly because of the ease of entry into and out of the industry with an economically priced van. I operate as a solo driver and prefer the Ford E-350 w/diesel engine...

    many happy returns

hi everyone I am poised to return to expediting after four months of working for a small local outfit. My current company gave us the news this morning they will be going out of business in seven days. Not much notice but that's ok. I am eager to return to expediting because it was the...
