Find some wood. Knock on it. A lot. First time you're held up at the border, for like, 8 hours, because of something that was out of your control, you'll understand the frustrations that some people have.

Just found out the nominal fee isn't all that nominal. $2 a week. "You will also have a weekly deduction from your settlement for $2.00 which is the cost that QC charges us to host this program." I can't help but ask if QC isn't charging Panther a total of $2 per week for the service, since...

    Back Office Support ???????

Instead of messing with white out, I just took the pages that require ID numbers and stuff and filled in the required information, and then took those sheets and made copies of them to use. Now, when I pull out the sheets, the only thing I need to fill in for each load is the load-specific...

I've got a set of these and they seems to hold up rather well. Nothing really heavy duty, though, just this and that around the van. If I did repair and maintenance work (around the engine) on the van myself, I'm confident they'd hold up.

"But, to sort of answer your question, depending on crossing volumes, somewhere between one and three on a given shift should be plenty. Most of the time they wouldn't be doing anything any differently than regular dispatch, merely monitoring the progress of the run. So a single person could...

Well, yeah, they're supposed to call with every load offer (if you are out of truck on pager), but it's a time consuming process when you have to do that for hundreds of loads a day. The seconds add up. They call, wait for the phone to ring between 2-6 times, if you answer it great, if not they...

"Three shifts 24-7-365. How many in a team would one require to do the job drivers are suppose to do?" Kind of a trick question, since those on the team wouldn't really be doing the job that the drivers are supposed to do. They would be assisting the driver with any problems as they come up, in...

It's a nominal fee. Meaning, in name only, meaning virtual, meaning it's essentially barely noticeable and hardly even there. Meaning, somebody besides me should have to eat it.

I think somebody at Panther reads these boards. But I don't think they read my messages. Otherwise, I'd have been in hot water long ago. :+

Yeah, I changed my fuel filter at 20 and then again at 40, and both times it looked new. At 60, I'll probably do it again along with the oil and trany and rear end, but after that I may bump it up to every 3rd or 4th oil change, instead of every other one.

Teflon, I'm with ya. The inefficiencies can drive ya crazy. I can only winder how many additional loads the company could have hauled if they didn't have so many hours wasted by trucks deadheading and then sitting and doing nothing while waiting to pick up non-existent freight. :) As for border...

American pride can only take you so far when you're forced to take pride in an inferior product. Focus the pride where it belongs and take pride in building a better mousetrap, and in building it cheaper than the competition. I have all kinds of pride in America, but my pride is gonna be...

In April 2006, Dodge released a technical service bulletin that recommended trany and rear end fluid changes at 60,000 instead of 80,000. If you don't change it at 60,000, then certainly don't go beyond 80,000. Mine is sitting at 58,576 on the odometer right now, and I have an appointment next...

Yeah, it's a personal matter, probably not best suited for a public forum. But on the other hand, it's good to let others know that this kind of thing can, and does happen, all too frequently. Doesn't matter which carrier someone drives for, the potential for these kinds of problems exist for...

"For Japanese manufacturers their major components such as engines, transmissions are imported by ship from Asia – then assembled here in places like Georgetown, Kentucky – then they call them “American Madeâ€. It’s simply not true." 10-15 years ago that was true. Today, not so much...

"I did not realize until the next day he cut my camera lines, and I fugure no big deal I will splice it all back together. WRONG these wires are like fiber optics, so I am planning on returning either to Bentz or the MFG and rewire that portion. It will probably cost me between 3-4 hundred. Just...
