Maybe Our Next Truck Won't Have a Reefer

Phil, It seems that this system will not provide much heat and is limited too. I don't know if you understand how it works but controlling the system may be difficult and may not be possible to actually be good enough to be a validated system for super critical shipments. Think of it as a...

    War for oil

No biggie with French, mother-in-law is French-Canadian so I am already used to being swore at in French and I also had French for 5 years in grade school although I don't remember much it is easier than Spanish to me. So let's go, Canada here we come! OK I got to say this. Tallcal, there...

    Gun Control, interesting stats

arkjarhead, I agree with you "I personally think it's bs that commercial drivers can't carry a pistol for thier own protection." but the problem is what I have seen with the attitude of some of these drivers, the fights I have seen and the problem that are being created in trucking by reaching...

    Inaccurate Mileage

OVM, I understand the point, sorry I didn't reply but of course it is a gain and treated as such i.e. taxed as such - depending on how you have your business setup. But this brings up another point, do you not pay taxes on what you make?

    Gun Control, interesting stats

Yes I agree, but the thing is if were continue not to use correct facts, the point gets lost when they are repeated and repeated and repeated - hence the small but as accurate correction.

    Inaccurate Mileage

OVM, I would think that if you are contracted at .77 a mile and only get .65 per mile - that is a loss, isn't it? FSC aside. I could get into this more but I think that I can't explain what I am thinking with the distraction I am dealing with.

    Inaccurate Mileage

So I am confused with this comment; " With Panther, some customers use Household miles, some use PC Miler. What we get paid for is the number of miles on the QC load offer." The confusion comes from the idea that there should be household miles or PC miler or what ever being used for loads...

    Inaccurate Mileage

    >Every once in a while we get an offer that will be >off by 70 miles even on shortest. When we call to complain >we are usually told "This customer gets household miles." >Whatever that really means. If the load is good enough we >will still run it, but we have turned a few down over house...

    Nitrogen survey

Actually Rich, you don't get 100% nitrogen, you get between 93 and 98% depending on what type of equipment that they use - anything over 90% is better than the compressed air. Also a good shop will check the tires after; today I only found one that does it out of 30. There is an analyzer that...

    Nitrogen survey

Nitrogen replaces the compressed air on the tires. It is a stable inert gas that actually some say (like Michelin and Goodyear) that the benefits outweigh the cost - which I am finding is averaging around $7 a tire for all vehicles.

how do you get a pic to show up when you post?

Oh Nipper, there is such a history about the dog. From Wiki, A huge (4-ton) Nipper can be seen on the roof of the old RCA building on Broadway in Albany, NY. I have a bunch of 1905 RCA promo items and one thing I really like is the full size Nipper.

October 4 the day that change the world forever

RE: October 4 the day change the world forever iceroadtrucker was right, This day 50 years ago the world was either rejoicing or in fear. The soviets beat the US into space by launching Sputnik in the International Geophysical Year. Some time ago on eBay there was the backup for the...
