    there goes this years bonus

antdub33 You maybe right for other areas, but I rode along with two ground trucks this past year, maybe thinking I would go over to ground and they were both told what routes to take - it was hub to hub and back. I was also told that if I joined, I would have to take a route first then go hub...

    sleeping

I'm tired. And please dont take this wrong, but its get real tiring reading your replys to every drivers situations. Its like youve got an answer for every single situation every single driver has ever experienced. Like you got this impulsive nature to impress us with this knowledge of yours...

    sleeping

Oh come on, try sleeping in a van on a hard floor or worst yet on the bare metal floor. Don't take this wrong. "Shouldn't all commercial vehicles that require sleepers also be required to install those sleepers on air bags." No. If you are taking a sedative to sleep, maybe this is not the...

    I Like Mike Huckabee

Honestly guys, there really is not one republican that I can get behind. Not one of them has really showed or presented a plan, not one of them has said that the Republican Party is lost and here is how to fix it, not one has said I am for this and this alone. They all have been worried about...

    Safety Equipment

Moot, It really is a safety issue. Some beards will cause leakage and with some of the chemicals out there, death is easily reached if even a small amount is breathed in. See with the varying style of facial hair, mutton chops, full beards, goatees, etc.. trying to manage which one someone...

    Trucks do wear out, right?

Talk to a real accountant who can explain this to you. Most will spend the time with you to make decisions for your business. This is not an area that anyone can apply a cookie cutter to come up with a business, but rather need to shape things for one's personal goals and needs.

    Ban the Bulb

It amazes me that we have survived so long with an environment that was so hostile to us. I like the one where the florescent light was busted in a school near here and they had to call in the Hazmat team to clean it up after the evacuated the entire school. It was all over the news a while...

    there goes this years bonus

antdub33 I disagree, there are a lot of differences, one is routing and the other is the way we are told how to work. Ground is pretty much a hook and go situation with a few deviations where we are not told how to load, how to drive and what route we take. I don't see this affecting Custom...

    SIX MONTHS OF GROSS INCOME..........

This is too d*nm funny. I had to call someone to make sure I read this all right so not to look like I missed something. Savings or better put reserve capital is a good idea in any business but in many businesses, they run on thin margins and can’t build up more than a few weeks of capital...

    Ban the Bulb

I know what you mean, my father's porch light is the same way. But here is an interesting study they did at U of M, I read it as a reference in another report so I am trying to find an original source. They compared the energy used to make the three types of light sources, a regular old...

    SIX MONTHS OF GROSS INCOME..........

Leo, I see your point and know what you are talking about but to many expensive are not gross income. Danny, you are right about money put away, but I still say that many who do are it the minority and don't treat this as a business.

    SIX MONTHS OF GROSS INCOME..........

Danny, I agree BUT no one seems to get this, he was talking about GROSS revenue - the before expenses revenue, not net. When you talk about gross, the figure is unobtainable unless you are making a lot of money to begin with and have no limitations and this business has it's limitations built in.

    SIX MONTHS OF GROSS INCOME..........

Linda/Leo, You need to understand one thing - this is about the GROSS of the income you produce, not the net or operation expenses or anything like that. When you can save the 50% of your gross in any business in one business year that is d*mn good but that works out in many cases to be 80% of...

    SIX MONTHS OF GROSS INCOME..........

But Dreamer, the thing is we are approaching a time when many can't do that, even if they have a high paying 'career', they fail to do so. If you look around and see what is happening with the industry and even this segment, the major players are squeezing things too tight because of...

    SIX MONTHS OF GROSS INCOME..........

You know Phil, it is a good excellent idea to have a savings of minimal operating expenses save but that is not what you said. You said; “It is a wise practice for expediters to have three to six months of gross income saved up and within easy reach.†For most of the single truck owners...

Interesting facts about Walmart from WakeupWalmart

RE: Interesting facts about Walmart from WakeupWal So I have a solution...... Stop buying at walmart, kmart and any other store that has Chinese goods. Kmart is not far behind when you look at the greed, they single handily wiped out many retirees and investors money and I for one will never...

    Getting My Own Autority Questions

You know after a lot of time looking into this, I found it rather a pain in the a** to get into. I choose to go into customs brokerage which was put on hold for a while and which seems to be more lucrative than this but a bigger pain in the a** to get into - not for everyone and highly...

    SIX MONTHS OF GROSS INCOME..........

yea you read right. It seems to me, that if I remember right while running our auto parts business, at times we were lucky to have a weeks worth of money on hand to pay the bills, maintain the trucks and pay the people - but again, we were not in this business and had not been shown that...
