So Phil, for the people out there who don't know what you are talking about, I wonder if you would fill them in on the following; What are recommended publications? What are the recommended spreadsheets? What are the recommended events? And who are the recommended people? Maybe the answers...

    C.o.l.a

Why say that? Don't you know this business is easy to learn? Don't you know that there are newbies who are being successful at this and having great numbers - as reported? Seriously, I maybe really negative about things lately but the truth is, no one forced anyone to sign anything. It is...

    Early Easter

Rev, With all due respect, your version is not close to Coco’s which is what I was taught and studied. Here is what I am remembering, maybe it is old news. I got to warn you that I am remembering things 30 years old. Your version of the word Easter derives from Bede’s de...

    Small generator question

NO really there is no a lot that do good work. Many of them are parts replacers. A bunch here don't know how to rewind motors or generators. There is one I do recommend, they do all the motor rebuilding for a number of people, I had them do a few motors - not cheap but good. Werner Electric...

    Capital punishment

Leo, In some parts of the country, these guys don't get to be in general population but have a section all to themselves. Many survive to make it to their parole unfortunately.

Truckers Expect Record High Fuel Costs - Forbes.com

I see what you were saying but South America has to straighten up politically and become stable before that idea can formulate. With the kooks down there who are pandering to the leftist and the others who are trying to keep a lid on their own people, oil is the least of their worries. The thing...

    Why I Switched

Huh? You are kidding, right? I have yet seen openness in the party, and got to tell you that my experience goes back a long way with the party, watching and remembering a lot of 'openness' from them. ;)

    Expediters Going Hungry, For Real

Driving for an owner does not really put you at risk but sets you up in many cases to learn that employee attitude many speak of. I am now calling it the 'mommy culture'. Sure it shortens that learning curve and yes it is easy to learn some of the business that way but really it still is one...

Yes, We're considering FedExCC in "bad times"

There is no chastising of his determination, but his mind is made up and the advice is somewhat limited at that point to listening the experts who run for that company. This holds true for anyone else who would say, "we don't own a truck right now but we are going to buy on and go to Panther" -...

Truckers Expect Record High Fuel Costs - Forbes.com

OVM, We have two problems here, one is that we import too much oil and the other is we don't protect our own supply by drilling for it. ANWR is not the worry for many of us, it is the gulf and thanks to our congress, the stupidest move they made was saying that we can't drill in places like the...

Yes, We're considering FedExCC in "bad times"

There is no 'insurance' on the people except a domicile state requirement for what we call here in Michigan workmen's comp insurance.

Costs as a Percentage of Revenues

You know that you can take the OOIDA spreadsheet and modify it to show percentages. It would be really easy to modify it for your purpose.

    Small generator question

Well actually, in a way I do but I can't see using them for high current loads, I would end up using the generator for the microwave, the grill, coffee maker and anything else I can think of that will take up a lot of current. There is a trade off with weight vs. truck fuel consumption. I...

Costs as a Percentage of Revenues

I never thought of it as a percentage of gross because of the variable of dh miles plays into the equation. I can see a breakdown after the year end. I know my operating cost, which is based on all miles on a monthly average which I use to determine profitability.

    Being Audited from IRS

Ok serious advice. There is a few free or almost free places to get legal aid for those in your situation, I would actually start there. I would not go into an audit without an Enrolled Agent or a CPA or a tax lawyer. Don't take any advice without talking to someone who is prepared to help...
