    Front License Plate?

Michigan will not give you two plates. Other states also have a similar issue. Iowa and one other state tells you to put their plate on the front with nothing for the rear. I think states need to get their act together on this, and the cops/scale masters should know what the other states demand...

Two Kinds of "Out of Service"

RE: Two Kinds of We were told in orientation: Tow, ticket, nurse, or hearse. If a vehicle has to be towed, if you get a ticket, or if someone goes to the hospital or dies, you get a drug test. Gotta agree with Terry... too much can happen after any accident. Ambulance chasers can concoct any...

SPLIT AND A TERRIBLE OWNER-OPERATOR AGREEMENT

That's not what we're saying. All it is is a preference. Personally, I wouldn't drive for 40% unless the owner was trully hands off. If the carrier doesn't have a load advance policy, I think the owner should help with that, if the driver wants to go 60%. But there are weeks that I would've come...

    New kid in town!

Everybody, thanx much!!! Rich, gawd I hope so! :7 Leo, that's one of our plans for him. But you know how plans go... ;) KW, no one that far west. We're pretty much stuck to Mich and NC. Moot, I hope not. I'm countin on him being a millionaire and taking care of mom and dad! ;) Cheri, funny you...

SPLIT AND A TERRIBLE OWNER-OPERATOR AGREEMENT

Ark... Many drivers, when given the choice, choose to take the 60%+fsc. IMO, this helps both the owner and driver. It helps the owner whos truck isn't being idled or deadheaded needlessly. The driver also tends to be more interested in noises and actions the truck may make, since it usually will...

Things I have seen on the road (sort of)

Greg... your stories sound great when I imagine Andy Rooney reading them. :7 I couldn't imagine standing in a restroom to check if drivers close the door to pee. It usually smells so bad in there, I have to cover my mouth to keep from puking. :o I always wonder what Flying J puts into their...

SPLIT AND A TERRIBLE OWNER-OPERATOR AGREEMENT

An 85/15 or 90/10 sounds like a lease/purchase deal. Were you buying this truck? Unless you were expecting a truck after a certain amount of time, this definitely was the shaft. Curious... was the $535 per week or month? "If I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't know." - Kansas

Drivers want to go to 18% from 20%

I basically do the same thing as Bruno's suggesting. Owner gets 35% of everything the truck makes. His reasoning is that it's easier to figure out. I make a few bucks less, but in the long run it all evens out. He pays tolls, and recently even paid the fuel tax which I expected to pay. I would...

    New kid in town!

Santa got Jackie and I an early present! Logan Alexander Day was born Dec 13, weighed in at 8lb 2oz, and 20.3" long. We were told he would be 10+ lbs, but he's still every bit a little monster! LOL He's got 4" feet if you can believe that! His fingers aren't far behind (I'm hoping he'll make a...

    Home For The Holidays?

I'm going to be home trying to get my new son to catch a football. LOL I posted a thread about Logan in the Loading Dock. He looks nothing like his daddy, cept for his huge shoulders, hands, and feet! ;) I'll head out again after the first of the year. Gotta make good money this year, as...

    Personal attacks

It's been said a few times that ppl are more likely to post about a negative event than a positive one. I think the negative posts need to be read tho, as they do tell a story or two about different carriers or circumstances that could help in the long run. This site, as 99% of the sites out...

Which company actually cares about good drivers?

RE: Which company actually cares about good driver I don't know about the Warren Buffet thing... ;) Can a person become an expert in a field when they read everything there is on the subject? I don't buy it. There's more of a relationship between expert and experience than just the first 5...

Which company actually cares about good drivers?

RE: Which company actually cares about good driver If he would've known when dispatch found out, he could've gone home till Sunday morning, rather than spend money on the road. Gotta admit, the communication from his dispatch sukked. "If I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't...

Which company actually cares about good drivers?

RE: Which company actually cares about good driver It all depends on what the "newbs" are trying to accomplish. If they're trying to get a union started, then get hostile because no one agrees with them, then what do you think? Generally, I'd have to agree with Leo's advice. However, if you...

Is it even worth is anymore?

Magic... with this kind of post, how can you even think about a $2600/mo payment? I know... the lure of having your own truck is great, and I'm giving into it once again. But I try not to have bleak thoughts like this as long as the freight is moving. Still, it comes to mind. And still, I keep...

Do you know your credit score? or I love debt sco

RE: Do you know your credit score? or I love debt I've decided to lease the truck I'm driving to boost up my credit score. My score isn't all that bad, tho I have a bankruptcy hovering from 6 years ago. I was told my problem was that I didn't have any big ticket items in my history... just...

    About national Healthcare

You have those who think higher education is a right, and not a privilage. I for one think that if someone had to work to make it thru college, they'd be a lot better off for it. My nephew is a perfect example. He drops his classes half way thru the semester and joins again next semester with...

NFL DRAFT - Who will get the first pick?

What would Joe Montana have become without an o-line to protect him? Probably the same as Quinn would if he became a Lion. "If I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't know." - Kansas
