Totally agree with the big T: if and when we counter the WBC with violence, intimidation, or just underhanded actions, we are not really any better. That's why I love the idea of simply surrounding the grieving families with a cordon of silent volunteers - it does not interfere with the WBC's...

AJ: since it appears Turtle is elsewhere, let me help. 'Implied' is what you suggest, 'inferred' is what you believe is the meaning when someone else said it. You imply you're doing well, and infer that others are also. :)

Thank you for sharing - and for volunteering [or trying to, lol]. I was hoping to do so too - Joplin is where I went to driving school, so I lived there for a month or so, and feel a bit of a connection, but the freight gods have kept me elsewhere lately. My response is exactly the same as for the articles & stories about the WBC 'protests': what possible reason could there be for publishing it? If you've never desperately needed a bathroom when one wasn't available, you've been lucky, indeed. And sober, too. ;)

I'm just amazed at the increase in cost - when I added it to my van about 6 years ago, it was under $200! Where did you guys have it done? :confused:

What the WBC wants is attention, [they cancelled their plans to picket one funeral in exchange for free radio time], and it's the media that provides it. Maybe if their plans and pickets didn't get any publicity, they'd quit. And maybe their appearance in Joplin will provoke people to retaliate...

How to log it is situational - depending on what rules the carrier imposes, [personal conveyance time is set by the carrier] how far you want to go, how many hours you have available, etc. If it's a special occasion, I'll get a motel room with secure parking, and use local transportation...
