    Bad experience

Experience sure can be an expensive teacher - but you learn, and it's better the next time. Carrying spares of everything you can is smart, and having access to 24/7 roadside assist of YOUR choice is great. Because no matter how well prepared the vehicle, stuff still happens. Usually at 2 am. :(

    Tea Party at a crossroads

Agree with Greg's last post, except for the objective, which I believe is nothing more than getting reelected. And why does neither party ever consider budget cuts aimed at their own salaries & benefits [and those of past officials] ? If we all have to sacrifice, why don't they? And why is...

    60% + fsj + unknown fleet owner

^^^ What I said 15 posts ago. Except the part about not having enough money being no way to run a business, because most folks know that already, methinks. If they haven't got the money, telling them they 'should' is hardly helpful. People have started out with very little money, and have not...

Fleet Owner Reviews and Ratings Service

True. But you'll have a much better idea of 'who' he is by talking to other drivers who have been where you are. They can tell you what no one else can, and you should be persistent about finding it out - the good owners will make it easy to do, the ripoff artists, not so much.

    Was 9 Pallets - Now hauling 15

Great - but you're proposing it to someone who won't even share something that costs him nothing.....[maybe if there's enough begging to enhance his ego, he might throw a few hints to us little people] It's decking - we've seen it before!

    Threads, nuts and nylon

Since the answers have been provided, I gotta say I was afraid it'd be something about a new pair of 'those shorts' You truck drivers are a baaaaad influence....

    Was 9 Pallets - Now hauling 15

"And we're not telling you what it is, either, so there! We only mentioned it to make you jealous. HaHa!"

Zorry: 'driver boards'? Panther has a Drivers Council, and the council members will say they can encourage till they turn navy blue - the carrier does what is best for the carrier, period. Any effort to resolve owner/driver disputes would cost them money, and for what purpose? A more...

Free cellular... only for welfare recipients

It's a never ending amazement to me that people still believe that government 'handouts' are easy to get, and that a majority of folks would rather live on the handouts than work for a living. Easy to get? Do you read the articles about how states are in severe financial distress? Do you really...

    To each his own.

New Mexico mayor: I was drunk when I signed deal

He's definitely qualified for the Congress we currently have - but it's not the Congress we should expect to have, considering what it costs us. A former judge who 'didn't know what he was signing'?! If the residents of his town don't impeach him first thing, they deserve what they get. I wonder...

Truck Driver Now Maybe Cargo Van?

I live near Cleveland, Oh, right at the exit for 71 on the turnpike. I'm amazed at how often I go through the area, but have a load onboard and no time to stop, just wave on the way past, lol. We are like a taxi or ambulance: impossible to predict where the next call will take you. If that...

    Question about licensing

On EO's home page, you'll find a list of dates for seminars about expediting - if you can attend one, it would give you a clearer idea of what is expected. They're all free, and very much worth attending.

    Fuel Savings Cards

You are obviously in a c/v, so your choices are greater. First, if you have a carrier issued fuel card, you need to compare the deals offered by the places that accept the card [Some don't take Comdata, TCH, FleetOne, etc] with the deals offered by the big box stores. Keep in mind that the...

    August location

I did a quick dash in-drop paperwork-trade books-dash out yesterday, saw Mr Snappy's truck, but nobody else...now I'm sitting in Delaware [on the Eastern Shore!] because I thought today was Thursday...:o Oh well, I have a project [making new curtains for the sleeper, 'cheap & cheerful', as the...

    APU out

dp: it's your call, but I'd tell the owner that a motel isn't a good solution - schlepping stuff in & out & returning to an oven of a truck isn't restful, and neither is trying to sleep when the other driver is driving. You need a truck with a working APU to be rested enough, and that's all. If...

Free cellular... only for welfare recipients

And if we can't find a way to provide employment [that pays enough to permit self sufficiency] for those who want to work [which is the vast majority of people], we are ALL going to need help, because people are going to get sick of being blamed and vilified for the conditions they didn't...
