Common Core Education... there is no wrong answer!

Trying to "start an argument"? Or trying to correct a misperception? I remember following a link posted for another subject to a conservative site, where I read about the controversy of Common Core, and I was amazed at the idea that teaching kids how to think was a problem for so many people.

Speaking strictly for myself [and I haven't any degrees], this has been the best controversy I've read here in a long time. Both sides are intelligent, educated, passionate, and best of all, not a word about Obama! Well done, guys. PS Now I'm going to ice my swollen eyeballs. :p

Was that you? Load-1 cargomax in Toledo

Exactly. It says: you don't have to be cookie cutter identical to be professional. I like it very much. :o

    Music

As much as I love particular songs, [like Flogging Molly's "The Worst Day Since Yesterday"], there's not many CDs I can listen to straight through, and I have a low tolerance for repetition - but Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" is an exception.

Isn't that just the cutest little thing ever?! :D

    What's Free in Trucking?

Free stuff you can actually use includes ice & water at truckstops [in your own container], use of the microwave at same, and showers on the Ohio Turnpike. And faxes, if you grab the Pilot magazine and clip the coupon that is in there every month.

    What's Free in Trucking?

Tall tales, wildly improbable yarns, and supreme political expertise with your coffee/food at the counter of any truckstop restaurant. And jokes that Groucho Marx would have groaned at. ;)

Was that you? Load-1 cargomax in Toledo

Me too, lol. But when I met the Chef in person, [at the Expo], I was in a very good mood [alcohol might have been involved in that] so I didn't argue with anybody at all, about anything. :o While I was never a fan of his, the Chef did offer a lot of help to people here, and that's what EO is...

    Trucks Not Moving From Pumps

I can, and sometimes do, but the Parkers are the t/t drivers, and they usually don't load more than once a day. Or that was my experience when I drove t/t, anyhow. Or maybe they could [break while loading] if they wanted to, but they prefer taking 30 minutes off instead - who knows?

Not true: the one who most enjoys the argument usually gets the last word. Even if they only have a measly 9063 posts. Make that 9064, and pass the popcorn - you two are entertaining as all get out, lol. ;)

    Trucks Not Moving From Pumps

Because loading generally takes place too soon after starting the day, and would require a second break after eight hours on duty. A couple nights ago, I was faced with a choice: park before the break was required, or continue running through Atlanta and risk running over on the clock. I really...

    August locations & Alien invasions

Loaded for Laredo, and happy to be going. [Rudy's BBQ!] I like Nashville, too. Memphis: it used to crack me up [back when I got loads there] that of all the drivers laying over in Memphis, half were in Olive Branch, Ms, and the rest in West Memphis, Ar. But I like Olive Branch, too. :)

    Forced home inspections

The real story is a grant to states with "modest home visitation programs" for Women, Infants, & Early Childhood recipients [aka WIC - you may have noticed the signs for eligible food items at the grocery store] who wish to expand the visitation program they currently have for recipients. As the...

    Murphy's Law Updates

OMG you're back! You've been gone like forever!! Don't do it again, ok? We missed you, because you find the best funnies, and we need to laugh. So here's one for you: Maritime radio conversation recorded off the Irish coast near Kerry, in October, 1998: Irish: Please divert your course 15...

How Goes the New 34-Hour Restart for You?

Of course it's the driver's fault [parking in the fuel lanes], it always has been. But if you ever drove t/t, you'd know that one can easily waste more than 30 minutes looking for a spot, then getting backed into it. Now, the self centered drivers who always used the fuel lanes rather than waste...

August locations.... Here come the dog days

Uh ohhhh.....And I just turned down an offer to get the AC fixed [long story]. If it's that hot, don't look for my EO bumpersticker at the truckstop, I'll be splurging on some indoor plumbing & cable tv! And air conditioning. ;)

    Other drivers killing us!

Very few fleet owners would instruct drivers to accept every offer - in fact, I don't know of a single one who would do that. Leaving aside the question of employee vs contractor, it's not a productive strategy for maximizing revenue, or for keeping drivers, either.

    B i r !

I think I would really enjoy that, it sounds like my idea of fun, [just nuts!], but am loaded for delivery in SC. PS "Black Liver Falls" is my new favorite typo, lol. :D

That was a very interesting debate, lol. Without taking sides, I'd just like to say that one doesn't need to carry heat or ice packs, as both can be quickly made from things we generally have on hand or can get [free!] at any truck stop. Ice pack: put a large cup of ice chips in a plastic bag...

Does anyone do expediting part time? Yes, that sounds insane, but hear me out

When we stop picking on him, then you should start worrying: we do it because we like him. And because he never threatens to beat us up for it, lol. ;) Back on topic: there's some good stuff here for newbies.
