    Need help! Thanks in advance

You're right about that: getting any cert only says you knew enough to pass the test - it doesn't say you retained [or practice] any of it. But it's something I would expect insurance companies to require, more than the carriers themselves.

    A brilliant plan.

One could easily populate a list of "evil" perpetrated by Republicans, too, as neither side is all good or all bad. Childish namecalling does nothing but make the writer look immature, and therefore, not worth paying attention to. Just a general observation.

    Trucks Not Moving From Pumps

There's no reason you can't [though as LOS notes, you want to wait until at least 4 hrs in], but there are reasons why you might not want to, like avoiding mega city rush hour. Or there may be a personal reason for wanting to take it in a particular place [like BBQ!] that is somewhere right...

    Trucks Not Moving From Pumps

I hadn't thought of being 'on duty' for hours without moving, as it doesn't ever happen to me. I go on duty when I do the PTI, and drive immediately, so the clock begins when I begin driving [minus 15 minutes]. I guess it's different for teams, and loads that need babysat. For me, I would...

    Trucks Not Moving From Pumps

Correction: the clock begins with hours 'on duty', but it's a rare time when that isn't the same time [except for the PTI] as hours driving, so it's basically hours driven.

    Trucks Not Moving From Pumps

Is what I'm saying: you get warnings at 7 hours because the break is mandated according to hours driven. That puts it into the same category as the 11 [um, 10.5] hours, for which the adverse rule applies. Of course it's not in the rulebook yet, it's a new rule.

    Trucks Not Moving From Pumps

With all due respect, I disagree with the Safety Dept's interpretation. The 30 minutes is to be taken after 8 hrs drive time, which puts it under the 'adverse conditions' umbrella for exceptions. Under the scenario cited, the driver should not be found in violation of drive time hours. Of...

How Goes the New 34-Hour Restart for You?

Pay attention to what TennTrucker & ATeam said, because it's good advice. If your carrier can't provide pay that makes a load profitable [including DH on either end], don't take the load. If it's a frequent thing, don't stay with that carrier until you're broke. You have the same right to expect...

    Zimmerman makes another bad decision!

I found Turtle's post [and accompanying links] appalling: using SWAT teams to raid an organic farm? And in other places, checking for licenses in barbershops [Orlando]? Food co-ops and Amish farms? The thing is, though, these abuses of power aren't federal - they're local law enforcement...

    Beat them to death

There has been no mention in this thread of excusing evil, nor of responding to it with kindness or sensitivity. Nor has there been any suggestion that the crime involved wasn't evil, or shouldn't be punished accordingly. Which makes this an off topic rant that contributes nothing to the...

    Trucks Not Moving From Pumps

I'm not entirely sure it's interpenetrated my brain yet, but I think it means he likes adding to the "WTF are all those rules about, anyway" confusion. And maybe that drivers should just shut up and deal with the law - but if bad laws are written, someone needs to point it out, IMO. Otherwise...

    Trucks Not Moving From Pumps

Moose, I've read the regs, and understand that being unexpectedly detained at the shipper for hours doesn't count, [without which I would have been through Atlanta long before rush hour], but it's what we have to deal with. Ignoring it leaves us between a rock & a hard place too often, where...

    Like to read?

I remember when you first got an ereader, and we argued about how much better it is than books. I didn't think so - I have always loved reading , and didn't think it could be good to give up the actual books for an electronic gizmo. I was wrong, and you were right. [It's August 24, 2013, if you...

    Trucks Not Moving From Pumps

Thanks, Moose, but does 'adverse' cover hours waiting for the shipper to load or the consignee to unload the truck? And does spending 2 hours waiting at the shipper, doing nothing, allow us to forego the 30 minute break we don't need? The rules are based upon a scenario of trucking that isn't...

    Trucks Not Moving From Pumps

At one point, [when I drove T/T], I was so tired I actually considered that - for about 30 seconds. Not on the road, but in the 3rd rest area with no spaces left when I needed to park. But I knew the truck would get towed, I'd be charged with every single law the bean counters could make fit...

    Beat them to death

Deliberately repeating just half of a quote in order to change the meaning entirely impresses only the morons. Anyone with an IQ higher than their shoe size recognizes it as a pathetically lame response to something you have no real argument against. As long as you accept that there are...

    Beat them to death

No matter how you justify it, the fact remains: life is sacred, except when an exception is made. The only question is which exceptions are acceptable, and who decides.

August locations.... Here come the dog days

No AC in Dallas, but not even thinking about killing myself - just stick my head out the window [parked next to grass, of course] and pour a gallon of water over it. Instant cool, even if it looks the opposite, lol. I'll do it again when the Grapevine PD patrol car that's parked in front of me...
