    Carrier cutting rates

    I don't believe I have ever seen a E-1 tractor trailer.

Fleet owner trying to keep escrow

That was my original thought, then he says you get 500. That is the problem. Either he doesn't really know his contract or he isn't articulating it very well.

Fleet owner trying to keep escrow

Playing "devils advocate" One never knows with these kind of threads as we are hearing only one side. Also.....not sure what this means? " Return of escrow after two notice is for filled $500." Since that statement makes little sense, would could also make an assumption that you might not...

    *need help* out of fuel!!!

You got my interest. Is this AAA or Sam's club. I would be using it on straights only. Don't have any vans other than personal ones.

    *need help* out of fuel!!!

There isn't AAA for comercial vehicles. Running a truck out of fuel and then calling a service truck can be over 500 depending on where you are at. Being "dumb" can be expensive.

    Carrier cutting rates

If they have less money because of a pay cut, wouldn't they have less to deadhead to a load? Seems like there would be more turn downs?

    Boy Scouts Tent fire detectors

They wouldn't go that far. But maybe sprinkler systems for tents.;)

    Insurance Option

That was my thought. Especially when someone called and they won't insure outside of that local area.

    Insurance Option

It is all about risk as a group. To weed the good from the bad, they are going to use credit scores, driving history and what ever else to determine that risk. No different than buying a house that hasn't flooded but is in a flood zone.

    Carrier cutting rates

If they continue to charge their standard fare, your freight opportunites are likely to stay basically the same unless their fleet count drops. Time will tell on that one I guess.

    Insurance Option

I would rather have them base some of the rates on a persons credit. All the statistics as a group show that folks with poor credit history carry a higher risk. There are always exceptions, but they are looking at it as a group. As that continues to be used, it keeps my rates lower so we benefit.

    *need help* out of fuel!!!

Probably need to call the fleet owner or the carrier and get an advance. That is probably the quickest way with a comcheck.

    Insurance question

Sure they do. They are called "cattle haulers".;)

    Carrier cutting rates

Cutting the rate or pay to the drivers doesn't necessarily translate in to a rate reduction to the customer. "Watch what they do, not what they say". As for the T-shirt idea, pretty genius for a drivers reward program. ;)

Should You run for Multiple Carriers? Part 2

That is it. "The good owner op". In the van sector you have many just going paycheck to paycheck and have nothing to lose. It is that reason they could care less. Same reason many drive around with no auto insurance.

Should you run for Multiple Carriers? Read this first!

I think you are looking at two different issues. The ones that run cheap because they have lower costs (ex. running with no or limited insurance) and the ones that simply are clueless as to what their costs are to operate. Gotta get them "miles" whether they are making anything or not. Then...

Should you run for Multiple Carriers? Read this first!

Most have insurance if they are driving a regulated vehicle. But on vans or under 10k trucks, some are running around with just a basic auto policy. Insurance company is clueless that they are hauling freight with it. All kinds of gaming going on with load insurance as well. I am aware of a few...

    Phones for the dead

Probably time to scrap the free "Obama phones". Abuse here is likely the same in many other programs. Giving phones to dead people makes about as much sense as giving billions to Egypt. Lawmaker looks to rein in program after free cell phones sent to dead people | Fox News
