Big Truck Class 8 vs class 7 pros and cons !

Another big issue can be lack of insurance. Personal stuff. You’re used to medical and possibly dental. Quality insurance is costly in a self pay system. These guys bragging about the tax benefits of being an IC are often in the 30-40 k arena., If you run hard , and are smart/lucky, you and...

Big Truck Class 8 vs class 7 pros and cons !

I would highly recommend going to a fleet owner truck. At least for a year. Be sure this is a good fit for both of you before you spend $$$ on a truck. It’s easier to give notice if you don’t have to loose major money on a truck. It will also help you figure out what you want, or don’t want...

An odd companion to have while trucking!

Will he get motion sickness ? Other than that, I see no downside. Secure the aquarium securely. DO NOT put WE LIKE LIZARDS bumper stickers on truck. That won’t turn out well.

The gasket is more commonly called a boot. The regs you’d need to are safety restraints and such. Don’t forget a carbon monoxide detector. And make the wall between you and the freight strong enough to keep the freight out of the bedroom. And make it air tight.

straight truck with home made sleeper?

Yes, research past posts. They’ve been talked about in the past. I see no problem if you’re running solo. You can log off duty 10 hrs and sleep on the roof if you’d like. If you want to log sleeper time, as a team, or to split break, you’ll need a sleeper that meets the regulations. You’ll...

Congratulations and good luck. If you didn’t get owners manual I’d highly recommend getting one and doing all the recommended maintenance on time by a reputable shop. Hino Shop if possible.

    Talking about Rates

I stopped in the service dept at Westfall GMC to have a friends Yukon serviced. Light Duty $139 per hour Med Duty. $150 per hour Motor homes $179 per hour Is this common ? With all the proprietary stuff on a vehicle, I used OEM dealers a lot. Glad I retired when I did.

Can a driverless truck do this in NYC? Asking for a friend.

I’ve been in the equivalent of a driverless truck, sometimes a few miles at a time. It started with drug testing. I had to change “vitamins “. It was a different world back in the 70’s. Glad I lived through it.

He said 23,000 gross. It’s an under CDL truck. I would hope he knows the difference., Once running some FEMA a shipper was putting 18,000 pounds on under CDL reefers. Until a non CDL driver flipped one. They quickly transitioned over to DR units. Which they then reduced the loads.
