You're right. You should first retire from a job, before you take someone else's. If expediting isn't for a parent, then neither is the military, or regular truck driving. While it is hard, there are ways around that issue. Sometimes sacrifice is necessary.

Took Hwy 7 to Ottawa, instead of the 401 to 416. Nice calm drive. Yes, there were some towns, but it's great to take the back roads once in awhile, just to slow down and enjoy the view.

There's a J just south of Keokuk, in MO. Both times I went there, I didn't even have a chance to blow my nose, and I was dispatched.

Something like that, you could monitor yourself, via smartphone or email. Honeywell has a nice system for security/temp/flood/fire. I'm sure you could get just what you want from it.
