Why America doesn't invest in small diesel technology like Europe?

I would venture to say that beside the government and epa, etc, it is because of the american consumer that we don't see those small european diesel engines here. Americans want more power than they need at the expense of fuel economy, and not many will buy one if offered. When I bought my...

    "Pump Start" usless for vanners

It's been a while since I filled up at PFJ. I always find something else around that is cheaper. Not worth it to me. I used to be a loyal FJ customer, but Pilot had to mess it up. Oh well...

Oh, That Hour is Comming Back

That would have been my question if it wasn't for last week. I got a load from Alabama all the way to Maine. Started in Alabama and Tennessee with rain/wind/tornadoes, then it quieted down, until I got to Connecticut. Started snowing, but was still drivable, Massachusetts was a bit worse, but...

After 43 years on the road, I'm quitting!

Monty, That is a good price. If I was looking for another ride I wouldn't hesitate to buy it from you. Have fun seeing the country without being in a hurry.

    Leased on with multiple carriers

John, I am one of those that got tired of running for more than one carrier. 2 reasons: 1, I got tired of letting everybody know what I was doing, and tell the other 2 I was under a load, blah, blah. It got old really fast, and 2, the companies that allow you to run for others are usually paying...

    Missouri tornado's ... again ...

We've got some touchdowns in Tennessee. My wife and my daughter were in town and saw the weather getting really nasty, so they wanted to get home as quickly as possible. But, about 8 miles from home the traffic came to a stop. They were there for a while until the road was cleared after an f4...

    What is your position?

Well, I gave a company the boot because of this. Got an offer from pa to ms, (it was 1100 mile Panther load brokered out) and I got the email with all the info. Payday comes and I am paid for 1053 miles. Got on the phone with different people, well long story short, they said that they pay...

    Sprinter/cargo van team expectations

Like zoli said, you would do better to get 60% and pay for fuel.

    I hate glass.

Lucky you. I get lots of little rocks hitting the windshield, and they usually only chip it a little, but when one hits close to the edge of the windshield, that is when the crack starts.

    Psi? ?

I pump them up to 80 psi on front and rear. Yeah, when empty I could lower it and have a little smoother ride, but I don't want to mess with the pressures too often.

    Actual Sprinter MPG

Lisa, I have the 5 cyl engine, I drive it at 60mph and I take off slowly. No sense in racing it. Every year I add all the miles driven and divide by the gallons put in the tank I get around 26mpg.

    I hate glass.

You'd think. Never had any other windshield do that before. Anyway, I know Pilkington makes windshields in different places, but the one I had problems with was made in China. Maybe that one escaped Quality Control. I don't know...

    At 7:39 this morning

I have 461,018 miles on my 2004 Sprinter. Changed the fluid in the transmission every 60k. I am thankful that the transmission lasted this long, and when it goes, I will replace it. Heck, this van saved me about $30k so far in fuel compared with a Ford gasser, so I can afford a tranny and an...

    I hate glass.

I am on the 4th windshield on my 2004 sprinter. I have a small shop close by that does an excellent job. $100 deductible. The original was replaced with a Pilkington windshield. I hated it. Got scratched on the inside by wiping it with paper towels. I was going to take it in for a warranty...
