OK, Hands up, how many of you actually looked at Phil's photo's and did the scrolling thing............. Nice floor Phil, worthy of anything Brunswick makes!

    Low and high idling

You could, but here is why you shouldn't. Your truck has a DPF (the soot filter for the emission rules). At idle or high idle (1000rpm) in those temperatures it will fill up fairly quickly and go into re-gen mode which uses a lot of fuel to burn it clean again, this process will happen several...

Canada canada speed limiters, what to do

Don't know how far into the swamp you went but A20 is always an afterthought west of the island, guess they figure it's only used by "les anglais".

    Detroit Series 60 ?

You need to take it to a dealer or truck shop. Depending on what they have they may come to the truck and do it for you, but you'd likely pay by the hour for the whole trip. Taking it to a shop also gives you a small trip to try the truck out. Might be worth it to get them to check the truck...

    Detroit Series 60 ?

It could be removed to mask on overheat issue or maybe it just failed on the road and it was yanked out to finish the trip. I'd want to look into it thoroughly. ECM download will tell the tale if there were lots of overheats, and if those events have been erased, look at the "Fan on Time" value...

Canada canada speed limiters, what to do

Problem is the "mellonheads" I speak of are the clowns running the Ontario Trucking Association and I don't get to vote them out. These "progressive" thinkers came up with this gem in the interest of "safety" and "environmental responsibility". This same group (who has lots of fleet members...

    Tranny adjustment

Unless you have an Allison from the 80's, clutch packs are all the same size, 1 thru 6. One of the best improvements Allison made to the electronic transmissions.

    The weather outside is frightful!

2 deg F, or -15 C (guess that makes me a commie) -27 wind chill (whimp?) If you post in this thread, think it automatically makes you a weather geek. Bet the idea of a St. Bernard doesn't seem so silly now does it cheri?

Canada canada speed limiters, what to do

There is a 6 month grace period, no fines just a lecture from the scalehouse guy if he checks you (they gotta lecture you about something right?). It is just a programming setting in your ECM, there is no "device" to add. If the load to Ontario is a super payer you could stop in at most any...

    The Puppy Project

I have a Ferret. Stuffed and plush (dry clean only), came with my new phone from Telus. I call him 'Critter Ted". Never complains, cheap to feed and no sh*t or shedding.Fits in a cupholder to boot! People look at me strange when I pet him or talk to him, usually they back away slowly. Dunno...

    Tranny adjustment

Some Allison 5 speeds had the mechanical parts inside to give you a 6th speed, all that was needed was a change in programming to tell the TCU to use them. Most are not like this, Sorry DD.

Understanding the lane models in the US

"Main" lanes don't always mean profit, they usually mean lots of competition, which rarely drives the rate up.

GM to shut down for half of the first quarter.

I have lost my good paying non automotive run to Kansas from Toronto. We were undercut (fairly deeply) by a company that used to do a lot for GM. Was our price too high? Not really when you consider the service we gave them (next day by noon). If what we were told is even half true the new guys...

Sterling dealers angry , continued service questionable

The best hope is that you take your Sterling to a Dual (or Tri) brand dealer like Knoxville Freightliner or Team Truck (Ontario). At least they have an incentive to keep you happy so when it comes time to trade the Sterling in you might buy a Freightliner. The Sterling dealer here in Kitchener...

    Brake Grinding Noise

Depending on who made the pads, sometimes the "squealer" that is supposed to tell you the pads are worn out is set to contact the rotor with as much as 50 % of the pad remaining. I run Delco pads on my GM stuff and at install, the first thing I do is bend the squealer back so it hits when the...

    PC Miler 430 GPS

Phil, did you notice any difference in the routing between Co-Pilot and your Garmin? Reason I ask is I bought a new radio that came with a nav unit in it and it uses Tele-Atlas maps. I find it really out to lunch on how it routes you (often adding upwards of 10% more miles). I was looking at...
