Im thinkin the Dynamite(s) might want some accessorial pay if they have to wrap and strap the cargo?

    bargaining with the dealer

My thought exactly. Last big truck I purchased was an off-lease fleet truck. They were sitting at dealers all around the country for 33-36k. I talked to wholesale dealer, he made one phone call to a dealership where I had already been looking. He got off the phone, told me to go pick out my...

    Need You Guys/Gals expert advice....Thanks!

There a few on this site that have similiar gigs. You should be able to turn at least 50% of the money into profit, with you as the driver. Your pay would come from the 50%. If there isnt 50% in it, either your expenses are too high or the rates are too cheap. Its going to be tough to give...

Well that fizzled .... van for sale.

That's a great website if you run a t/t. Try this one: Compare LT285/75R16 Tires | Michelin Tires You will probably have to scroll to the right in the comaprison window, but the weight ratings are there. My apologies...the correct size is 285/75/16...i had said 70 earlier.

Well that fizzled .... van for sale.

Honestly I dont know why CargoMax used the 17.5 on the rear unless it allowed them to keep a smaller tire and still get the load rating. As mentioned above, Michelin builds a 16" tire with the same load rating...but that 285/70 is a lot of tire.

Well that fizzled .... van for sale.

Look at my first comment. I never looked into the availability of wide based tires and rims for the Sprinter. Apparently someone did though...according to LDB. Im saying that if they are available and the weight rating is there...that would be a great modification the 3500 Sprinter. Possibly...

Well that fizzled .... van for sale.

There sure are a lot illegal 18 wheelers out there if thats the case. As long as that wide based tire and wheel are rated to carry the weight....should be the same.

    Us dot number?

If the gvwr is 10,001 lbs or more and you travel across the state line, yes you'll need dot numbers, logbooks and you'll be expected to stop at the scale houses. There may be other considerations also, but Im pretty sure of the above. There a ton of discussions on this topic. Using the search...

Well that fizzled .... van for sale.

I would love to see that setup. Ive often thought that would be a great setup but I never checked the availability of the wide base tires and wheels for the Sprinter. Im assuming the elimination of the duals was going gain some extra space for widening the distance between the wheel wells?

Taxes are done.....that one's gonna leave a mark :( I'm not having any luck getting anybody to do anything here. I've got a couple of things to do tomorrow and the rooftop a/c might be in wed so I need to go pick that up. If I don't at least have an indication that this guy is going to work on...

CPM for van vs Sprinter high mileage

Using the fuel price numbers at the top of the screen, you'll find gas at about 5.5% discount to diesel. I often see a 10% discount gas vs diesel, rarely more than that and sometimes less (as now), but 10% does seem to be pretty consistent. With that said, I struggle to maintain 14mpg with my...

I would like to see that in the regulations. I've never heard of a difference between single or tandem drives?

    Length of straight trucks

The measurement the youngguns is asking for can vary depending on the model of truck. With freightliners you can tell by the number that is generally listed with the truck specs. FL112 has 112" BBC dimension. BBC= Bumper to Back of Cab. Same as FL120 has 120" BBC (exactly as Moot described)...

So, I've been catching up on some of the safety videos. I've got a problem with one of the tests though. The question: "Your sitting at the Load One yard and you see OVM walking across the lot toward the office, what do you do?" Answer choices: A. Throw eggs at him. B. Chase him...
