    Businesses don't create jobs?

I guess we disagree, then. What I heard Obama say was in the vein of JFK's "Ask not what your country can do for you" speech - basically, a reminder that patriotism requires more than a flag pin on the lapel, and a successful business required at least some support from taxpayers. The kind they...

is wanting opposite sex Co driver taboo?

Like truckblue, I've teamed with both men and women, and it didn't work out, but gender had nothing to do with it. Personality and work ethic plays a much larger role, IMO. We all know that teams are the 'gold standard', and they're tough to maintain, out here in the real world, so why limit...

is wanting opposite sex Co driver taboo?

Do the carriers that frown on opposite sex codrivers believe there are no gay drivers? Because if they're worried about potential litigation, that could be a minefield, lol. Maybe they should just expect drivers to act like professionals, or move on.

is wanting opposite sex Co driver taboo?

Chris: it's only taboo if you have a significant other who doesn't like it. ;) PS It doesn't sound like it's your plan, but codriving is not a good way to find someone to have a relationship with, except for friendship - and even that doesn't always happen. But if you have respect for, and...

    Businesses don't create jobs?

Did you guys listen to that speech, or just read it? Because if you heard it, you can tell that Obama wasn't talking about government, but taxpayers. The context was the Republican drumbeat of 'tax cuts', and the jobs they'd create with them [except they didn't]. I think Obama was right to...

    Businesses don't create jobs?

Yep, right out of the same playbook: taken out of context, made to look as if it meant something else. Obama's "You didn't build that" remark was preceded by the line "Somebody invested in roads and bridges" but that gets left out, and changes the meaning entirely. Now, Clinton is making the...

    Concealed carry in schools

A Kirpan is an important part of a long standing and deeply held belief of the Sikh religion. It should be honored by anyone who values freedom of religious expression. That might need reevaluated if Sikhs begin using them as actual weapons, but so far, not even the children among them have...

    Concealed carry in schools

I think it has everything to do with the policies of private business, because we are required to abide by those policies when on their property, and we cannot do our job without entering their property. Will you "keep it concealed" as you pass the sign that prohibits it from the premises...

You don't believe in capital punishment?

100% irrefutable? A conviction that warrants the ultimate penalty is supposed to be beyond any possibility of doubt, and how many times has that turned out to be an 'oops'? Replying to the post & not the poster is a good rule, one which I generally follow. Except when it becomes necessary...

Been awhile since I've posted, but I'm still interested in being an Expediter

How does your wife feel about you being gone for weeks [at least] at a time?

    Concealed carry in schools

Nobody is as important as the insurance carriers, they rule everything.

    Concealed carry in schools

It's not the government that prevents us from carrying, it's the insurance companies. They do not want any possible liability for a shooting [esp if it goes wrong], so they require "No firearms" rules of the businesses they insure. Or they simply exclude any firearms related claims from...

You don't believe in capital punishment?

I think it's apropos, if not [to start with] on topic. The cognitive dissonance between being 'pro life' and pro death penalty is pretty amazing. I think I made my position clear on whether [I think] the killer should be executed: no. I just can't reconcile capital punishment with the...

    Is It Worth It?

Sylectus did what current corporate groupthink says is necessary: keep growing and expanding, or die. Which means most 'small' carriers will not remain small carriers for a long [more than 10 years] time. They'll be bought out, or bail out, but the big guys will keep getting bigger, until...

You don't believe in capital punishment?

That you do undermines your 'pro life' argument that "life is sacred - except when". Because you're perfectly willing to make exceptions, as long as they conform to your viewpoint. A woman's right to decide for herself whether she will continue an unplanned pregnancy doesn't suit your beliefs...

    Hey "y'all" it's October

I didn't get a load this weekend, either. Got 2 offers yesterday, accepted both, no joy. But I know dispatch is looking, and I just cannot understand anyone feeling they need to call and ask "Are you looking?" Do they call payroll to ask "Are you working on my settlement?" every week too? Of...

    Hey "y'all" it's October

Anyone who smells like a Zippo lighter is the one who should worry about getting lit up - just sayin, lol. ;) PS It did not take me that long to come up with a comeback, either, I've been making up for lost time after going to Fl. Lovely as it was to see my daughter & grands, [and my son in law...

You gotta do it or go to jail

Although the Hobby Lobby religious exemption doesn't apply to this case, the cases to which it will eventually apply are going to bite some people pretty hard. They cheer the decision as a victory for religious beliefs, because the religion in question is their own - but one day, it won't be...

You gotta do it or go to jail

The right of a member of the public to avail themselves of a service offered to the public at large is the issue. If a service provider wishes to serve some of the public, but not all, he needs to become a private service provider. He/she has that choice, same as everyone else.
