I was in Akron. Weekend run to Laredo. 38 lbs of nuts. These must be special nuts--it even says so on the paperwork. eb

    hey anne

Hey Anne, Nice to chat with you today when I was looking for the orange safety vest. I was in a bit of a rush. I was on a load and trying to stay ahead of schedule eventhough I had already stopped at three stores before stopping at hq in my quest for the proper colored safety vest. eb

You can't make this stuff up.

I have a crescent wrench that has an arrow to show which direction to turn it. Problem is that the arrow is only visible if I hold it in my right hand--it faces away from me when I hold it in my left. Think you could come up with a solution for this too? eb

    mackinac bridge area

Mike, Do you have a guess to how far north I have to travel before I can find pasties? I ask people in the southern part of the state, and they have no idea what I'm talking about. I guess I'm looking for the pastie demarcation line. eb

Georgetown, KY. Been sitting here for almost 12 hours. Feels strange after last week's 2705 loaded miles. Managed to fit in a dry run, an oil change, and an espar heater install. Bring it on--I'm ready for more weeks like that. eb

    Qualcomm Ram Mount

I just removed my laptop and tried the qualcomm for fit, and it fits quite nicely. My laptop tray is for the "up to 17 inch screen" model. You can probably get away with using the compact model if you are only using it for the qc. All the brochures show the computer clamped into the tray...

    Help With Plywood Floor

Oh, and the seams. I got lazy with the seams. No special treatment. Just screws within two or three inches from the edges of the joining panels. The panels went in lengthwise, so the first seam to run into a sliding skid is eight feet into the vehicle, so lot of freight never makes it to the...

    Help With Plywood Floor

Thanks for the source, Dakota. I've been considering something like that, but not sure where to find the stuff. It is heavy though. Moot. Is that cross piece of e-track at the door of your van? I added a piece like that at the rear door to give me extra forklift-driver-protection. Also...

APU with all the bells, or roof air with portable genset?

Definitely pay attention to the kind of vibration isolator you use. The unit I had on my roof (emphasis on "had") didn't have bolt through pads, and all of them completely separated. I pulled into the driveway, heard a clunk, took a look and found the unit a couple inches out of place and only...

    Staying warm this winter?

Last week I stopped by Espar of Michigan and had an Espar D4 installed. A quick and neat install by none other than Ray himself. Waiting for the weather to change to see how it works. eb

    Cargo Van makes a comeback?

Yes. So much so that last week I delivered one skid of empty packing cartons. Not everything can just wait. --eb

    mackinac bridge area

Don't know if it's just an urban legend, but they say a Yugo was blown off the bridge, driver and all. I drove the grated lane once on my motorcycle--and I looked down--it's like flying. Still haven't made it out to the island. You live in a place and never see the site in your backyard...

If you have been reading the forum for two years, you should have some idea who the straight shooters are. Also, don't think that just because one person says something positive and another negative that one or the other is the straight shooter. They could both be right or both be wrong even...

    solar van

Orientation of the panels does make a difference. Having a rack that tracks the sun, keeping the face of the panels perpendicular to the rays of the sun, can improve the performance of the system 25% or more. There is also the angle of incidence to consider. At 45 degree off of perpendicular...

    solar van

The manual that came with my panels say to wipe them down once a year and to only use water. Detergent will damage the glazing. As for snow, I haven't been through all the seasons yet, but I figure a good hard application of the brakes ought to help. Seriously though, one thing in the way I...

New to the forum and expediting!

I'd start in the newbies forum in the section called Newbies FAQ. I still think there should be a sticky message there or here addressing this very common line of questioning, but maybe someday. Someone else will probably come along and be of more help. I'm at the shipper right now about...

    No More Dodge Sprinter

Or a gravel lot two blocks off the main street. But then if the high end rv'ers get involved maybe that will help our cause. I heard some commentary that this arrangement will lower the cost of running a sprinter, but I can't see it. A three pointy star on the grill has to be expensive. eb
