this isn't a new ideal, a driver out of buffalo ny in the early 90's had a b unit refer that he made , and did very well with it
and he had retired from carrier and had know how and build 2 them
most companies won't put on a unit that is to old as it would have to be replaced to soon i would go with newer one
or brand new and that will have warranty on it
or drive for someone first
most companies only able to keep for 5 model years
with ceva you may put on a unit that is less than 5 years old
and may keep it only 7 model years
again maybe kept on a year by year bases
so the newer the better, and won't have to keep getting a new unit ever so often
should have eo come to hampton roads area to have one expediters class training sessions as there are alot of military getting out of military or retiring soon
plus some of us in area would come out and support you if you come
i am retired once from the navy, and been doing this sents 1992 and having extra income coming in makes it easier during the hard times like in 1994 was a bad year
no matter where you go there are two things you must learn todo how to make system work for you , know who you are working for...
when i first started with roberts express i saw these things going on and really didn't know what was going on until terry and renee explain what was what i almost gave a person some money to help out, and terry and renee said he's here all time and saw you as a new mark
here in hampton roads...

i've talked to some of the local drivers that are company driver and they say there getting $125 a day that is not very much
look at what auto workers get
dod civilains get
and the shipyard workers get
we should not get any less
we are skilled at what we do
so we should not sale our sleves short
all depends would have to be at least $25.00 to start
and if you have hazmat that would be more
plus anything over 40 hours would be over time
and d time would be extra
and about would be for the driver if he was o/o
and for the truck would be at least a $200 aday
also if had a refer that would...
one of best loads i had with fedexcc was from lyons falls ny to cathages new york, all one week they couldn't get anyone to cover it , they ask me if l would and said yes
as i stayed at my mom's and dad's all week
one load in morning and one in afternoon
and enjoy it all week , 34 miles round...
for all the hassle it doesn't pay, so i drop my hazmat
and with not having a sealed bulkhead there is so much i can't carry so why have it
and cost of getting it and time required was not worth it
and $25 dollars more to load take alot of loads to pay for it
i firgure for time off etc would...
