That doesn't sound normal. Is it a new unit? If it is, it might be that it is burning off stuff left over from the manufacturing processes. If it continues, have it checked asap.

Delivered my load at 'the yard' then went on to pick up another one in MI. Freeways were in perfect condition, but side streets are a mess. I had to go about 4 miles on side streets to pickup, and in some places the snow was soo deep, I almost got stuck a couple of times.

No, it is not the norm. I haven't been to one that turns it off. Also, home depot has free wifi and they don't turn it off either.

Make sure it is the same ratio that you have on your van, otherwise the computer will think that the transmission is slipping and you will be stuck in 2nd gear. The ratio is stamped on a plate next to the cover, i believe.

Maybe they do, but besides the ugliness there are a few other things that prevent me from considering it. If you open the hood you can't even see anything in there, let alone work on that engine. And for a DIY-er like me that is unacceptable.
