Just curious...is anyone able to watch the safety videos and take the test from their smart phones? Is there an app that would make it work? Is there a system change that could make it possible? It would make it a LOT easier on me if I could watch them on the phone. It would likely increase...

Options for a new cargo van driver

I would check out the EO classifieds. I would also talk to as many current drivers as possible. There are some outright horror stories out here. He needs to get with a good owner and a good company....they will most often be found in the same place.

Those new shower heads have a paint stripper setting! I'm thinkin the manager was more concerned about the "I DID IT" part?

We should re-title this thread to something like this: Discussion and opinions on how to, and excuses for, avoiding responsibilities.

It seems sort of obviuos to me. Im not about to get into a word game about it. I know (and Im pretty sure that you know) who's responsibility that load is once it's on the truck... actually once it is accepted by the contractor. Instead of asking me to quote from my contract. What do you have...

I haven't and don't need to look at my contract to know that it is my responsibility to get the load delivered. It is, at minimum, an ethical issue. I wouldn't ask a carrier to cover the expenses associated with doing the job I've told them I would do even if there was no contract at all.

Yep... right after the school bus full of kids gets rear ended.

    Missing the THUMP!

I really hope that you guys have enough sense to respect other drivers with your loud stereos. I was at the Spiceland J last week and you could hear some idiot's music all over the front lot at 2 am. You also have to remember that many drivers, especially expediters, sleep all hours of the day.

Again...the circumstances dont matter. You are contracted to make that load happen. The fact that your going to have to tow it 400 miles to delivery, then tow the truck 400 miles afterwards changes nothing but your ego and your account balance. Responsibilities are still the same.

I can't agree with the word "should". It is nice if they do...and it may be in the carrier's best interest to front the money just to be sure money doesn't slow the process... but I see no reason why they "should". I'm sure that our carrier would and I have no doubt they would work with the...

If that is the only option that gets the job done...yes. It is my responsibility to get the freight moved. My contract does not say "unless for some reason your truck can't make it to delivery". The distance or the cost of the tow may hurt, but it has nothing to do with re-assignment of the...

How Do You Watch NFL Football on the Road?

Yep it is. I was using JustinTV, but it got to where it wasnt working well at all. Uses up a lot of my air card to watch a race. I usually listen on Sirius and then try to catch the last 50 laps or so on the internet.

Oh I get it... your one of those guys that takes responsibility for his equipment? Imagine that! :D I would expect nothing but to pay for the tow bill. Its my equipment after all...and I am contracted to move the load. Now, if there is an obvious alternative that will work (and still meet ALL...

yep, you gotta have something. When I carried a pallet jack on my straight truck, I built a plate out of 3/4" plywood. It was 4' wide and maybe 3' in length. I tapered each end with a table saw to help the jack roll up on the plywood. I also used decking screws to attach 4 pieces of 2x4 on the...

How Do You Watch NFL Football on the Road?

Awesome! I used to have a place where I could watch Nascar races live, but it went away. I just pulled the race up on First Row...perfect! Thanks! (Now I gotta get my laptop fixed...lol)
