    What the???

I hafta agree with PA lengthwise. My tiring award goes to 77 thru WV. But monotonous goes to 75 thru Ohio and the 401 from Windsor to Toronto.

Guys you need to lighten up

Might be the time of year. Only time I was sneered at when I tried talking was in Nashville last summer. I asked an A.Blair driver how everything was going. He said, "Ah... ok." and drove off. I'm used to standing around talking for an hour or two with fellow expediters, whether they be van, or...

    WI-FI service

How is verizon's reception? I've heard it was off and on in most of the country. I've had a sprint card for almost a year, and I have to say it's a great investment. Especially when I was able to renew my contract when they had the big promotion a month ago. $60/month with no limit. This last...

The Impact Of The Big Three On Me

Just a quickie... I had a '62 Fairlane that got 18mpg. Small engine, but a lot of kick! That engine compartment had so much room in it, a small kid could stand up inside. Maybe not... but there was a ton of room to work on it. Then they started "improving" things. This environmental gadget, that...

Hit by 18 wheeler in AR, damage to look for.

If your driver was on I-40, then my nephew saw them in the median. I hope you guys get what's coming.

    Hell frozen over!

The safest thing was to keep going. There was NOWHERE to pull off. Besides... like I said, the roads were clear for the most part. The bridges were complete ice, but we had a mile or two backup to prepare for those. I would've rather stuck with the big trucks in this case.

    Hell frozen over!

I look at it this way... they knew the roads were icy, as they had them plowed. The temp was just below freezing, so salt would've aleviated the whole problem. Heck... sand would've helped on the bridges. They have no excuses on this one. The storm happened 24 hrs beforehand. Thanx for the...

    Hell frozen over!

Sunday morning, we drove thru Dallas/FW. What a mess!!! Multi-car accidents, cars off the road all over the place because of ice. I thought that was bad! Then, we got to Arkansas! Having read WGifford's post about his driver getting rear-ended, I know exactly what he went thru, as far as the...

    If your gona do this

I don't understand these attacks on Broompilot. He made an opinion on Canada, most of which I agree with. Being from Detroit, and having a Canuckian wife, I think I know more than most Americans. I visit there. I listen to stories. Yes, I read their newspapers. Personally, if it weren't for...

NO HELP FROM THE TRUCKER'S HELPER

Chet... pcmiler is AWESOME for that application. All you do is put in each stop on your logbook, and it figures out how many miles between stops, and for each state you went thru. It's as simple a program as you can get.

    FedEx Ground may go union

Have you ever heard complacency breeds corruption? I'm not arguing that we don't have the best system in the world. But that doesn't mean we should sit on our butts and accept the status quo. Ppl have gotten too lazy to combat unfair practices. Maybe because it is everywhere you turn! Who wants...

What's The Best Solo Friendly Company

But he's asking a simple question. This forum is to get advice, as well as put ppl in touch with companies. I would say go ask companies, if he wants to get a line of shpeel. Otherwise, he's doing a good job of locating the right one. Once he weeds out the non-solo companies, he can make a short...

    FedEx Ground may go union

No... the point is, they are breaking the law. If they're treating their contractors as employees, they should be paying taxes and benefits like EMPLOYERS do. FedEx wants the best of everything. Sorry... doesn't work that way. Pay the piper so you can have the drivers you've always wanted.

    Steeler nation

Doo Wop... You're right about wall street greed. The same could be said about unions. Both, at one time, were necessary to keep a balance between fairness and profit. However, both got greedy and shot the American dream to hell. It's hard for most to make a decent wage, nowadays. Take a good...

    News Coverage of Florida Crash

This is a classic case of negligence. No reason that driver should've been driving after that long without sleep. This has nothing to do with HOS, as they weren't violated. However, I see the cry for more stringent rules because 7 whelps were killed. Tragic? Yes! The driver's fault? Most likely...

This got me thinking. What's in 9 months from February??? Is there an election this year? Strange how it won't go into effect til November... ie, after election time.

Panther Straight Solo Drivers - need input

I have to agree with Ateam. A team-focused company and a solo mindset will get you a whole lot of broke. You have to be fair to Dave here, too. He may feel obligated to keep you in the truck, but is it being fair not wanting a co-driver? Maybe talk Dave into a move to a solo-oriented company. I...

    o/os

I agree that a company has no say on how or when a contractor pays his drivers. However, I think a company has an obligation to terminate that contractor if he has a history of not paying his drivers. Too many times I hear drivers getting nothing but "we can't help" from companies, who know all...
