    The Changing Economics of Expediting

We still have a seasonal camp site in Goodfield, IL that the family goes to every weekend. We just canceled pulling the camper out this year because of the expense. Our seasonal is a Yogi Bear where the kids get to swim, do crafts and activities, and drive golf carts, so I don't think they...

    Obamma Yupper

IRT: No need to apologize. I enjoy politics and I think that debate is good. Sometimes people take things too far, but you can't feel bad expressing your view. Like sports, sometimes to adapt with the changing of times, their rules change. Now I'm not saying that the constitution is...

    The Changing Economics of Expediting

You almost have to go into the frame of mind that most equipment will be traded and you'll always have loans or expenses. Just figure about what your payments need to be to make a profit on a low guestimate of income and go from there. We buy our vans used, whether through Ebay or local places...

    Anybody Else Slow

I'm starting to go through the numbers for this week and it was a little better (thanks to a 1300 mile laredo run) but still on the sporadic side. However we have about 7 vans down right now and just a tought time getting drivers aboard. It does seem to be picking up slightly (for cargos...

    8 Hrs Advance

Wow, thanks Dave and LDB. I didn't know that. I thought it was just an 8 hour refusual didn't hurt you period. I'll be sure to share this with our drivers (whats left of them) :)

    Panthers 1st outs stink

I agree with you OVM. Like I said earlier, looking in Michigan there were 4 or 5 on first outs. That just doesn't make sense. Let alone the outlying areas where you have to sit for a couple days to get loaded and then someone roll in with a first out. Thats got to be tough on the other...

Oil at $150 by 4th of July

I would say if the reports were just on CNN, I wouldn't listen, but all over the internet and all major broadcast networks are talking about this and facts are facts, just on speculation the already insane cost of oil went up $11.00 yesterday. Its the speculators striking doom and gloom. IMHO...

    YIKES Nascar is expensive

I will say I love to go to NCAA collge basketball tournament games. But man I'll tell you with the advances in HD. I have a 65 inch DLP with surround sound and the camera angles you get watching sports, even Nascar, makes it hard to want to spend that money to go. I love my HDTV

    Lord Stanley's Cup...

I'm not a big hockey fan, but it sure was a good game 6 down to the last seconds. Pittsburgh fans were hot and loud. It is fun to watch a hockey game in HD though. I must admit that. I did enjoy the outdoor game they played in Buffalo earlier in the year. I hear they may do one in Yankee...

Oil at $150 by 4th of July

My bad. It settled at 138.54. Might as well be accurate if I'm going to report it :)

Oil at $150 by 4th of July

I was reading CNN this afternoon and Oil has jumped up to close to $135.00 from $127.00 yesterday because some "Speculator" said that Oil could easily hit $150.00 by the 4th of July. I love them speculators. I guess I wish I could get one to say that the sky was clear the world is at peace and...

    Some has to be done.

Ed was on CNN last night, poor guy looks terrible. His wife was almost comical crying about their 4.5 million dollar home. I hate that he is losing his home because of a medical injury though. That is sad. My question is......"Whhheeeerrrreesssss Johnny" to help an old friend.

    Tulsa Oklahoma

I agree Turtle. Most of the time it seems like you are the only van in NH, Mass, or VT. Granted it is expensive because of all the tolls, but if you give it a day, you usually can get a run down the cost or a decent one anyways.

    Panthers 1st outs stink

Couldn't agree more with you turtle. As an owner I tell guys to take the rolling first outs if they can get them, but it does hurt the people especially in outlying areas (like Laredo) who sit a couple days for a load. Maybe Panther needs to focus more on bonuses (which they don't want to do...

    Medications / Rules

My wifes family has a long history of ADHD, depression issues and our two girls were diagnosed in school and then through the doctors. It has made a huge difference in helping them slow down a bit. My wife is a special ed coordinator and we don't believe in medicating unless necessary. Let...

    Tulsa Oklahoma

For awhile we were getting loads out of Catoosa, Ok, which is about 35 miles away from Tulsa. I don't know if that has dried up or become straight truck loads but they were averaging 2 a day. Oklahoma City always seems to be full but get about 3 a day from what I recall. Hope this helps.

    Did they do it again??

I thought so after looking it up......thats like Kansas, IL, North Judson, Indiana and Fairbury, IL. They are all very small small towns. Tough places to sit.

    Anybody Else Slow

We run 17 cargo vans. Granted 6 are down looking for drivers at the moment. It seems every memorial day weekend there is a big driver change over. Thats for another post. However we still have 10 to 11 running and we had 5000 loaded miles last week and about 7000 this week. Its been tough...

    Did they do it again??

i just looked online and I see Mount Erie as a board still. Hope this helps.

    Did they do it again??

I think this has been mentioned somwhere else but at least on the drivers website that you can see load boards out to 300 miles now. Thats a good feature. Panther had said they were going to reduce the boards from 676 to 343 or some figure very close to that. I received that in an email last...
