    The Magic Words....

Don't mean to rain on your parade, this seems redundant. I think we've all had these experiences. Do you have a new spin on an old problem?

The good the bad and the ugly

I don't think it really did take off? Had a lot of merit, however it could be a sounding board to do damage to a few really good shops. Thats just my take on it.

    "Guests" on the road

Wow tough question. Years ago it was never a problem taking the kids in the truck for the summer. Unfortunately it's a different world run by attorneys and bean counters. I would try all the companys here on EO and start sending Emails to there recruiting departments. I don't know of any that...

    LOAD BOARDS

Just a word of caution, there are plenty of crooks out there brokering freight. I word only deal with reputable people. There are publications with rating systems to denouce the bad apples out there. Stick with the big boys of freight brokering and at least you'll get paid. I hope! Landstar...

    WiFi at Truckstop.Net

What a shame about the people that paid and don't get back a pro rated amount based on usage. It's funny how they go after the Trucking Market and then hose the people supporting there newest widget. I hope all that have paid for this service call and complain if they don't recieve there money...

    Trucks-Mileage-How many miles is too much ? ? ?

RE: Trucks-Mileage-How many miles is too much ? ? With proper maintenance your truck could last to 1 million miles. Of course you will have at least 1 engine overhaul or replacement. I have always believed if you take care of your equipment it will take care of you. The number one killer of any...

    Super D, another angle

Sounds like it is time to just go "Big Rigging" again. Rates are up and if you want to go LTL-ing now would be as good as any to make the plunge. I don't think your curtain side would work, ie they leak. Good luck on your little big truck adventure.

    Skid size

Thats correct a standard size is 48x40, the problem may be freight overhang. 48X48 is common to Automotive and again they tend to "super Size" the pallet. Good luck and as my sleeper builder always says "Bigger is better!

    Just starting out

It sounds like a positive plan and now you need to execute it. Good luck and document everything. You may also want a attorney to look over any contracts, just to protect you both. Good luck and please keep us posted!

Anyone have a good recommendation for reefer in a

RE: Anyone have a good recommendation for reefer i I would contact Freightliner Knoxville and possibly Vomac Trucks in Ft. Wayne they both have extensive knowledge of Reefer "D" units. I would stick to the big boys to help you spec your truck as your going to spend 150,000.00 plus. The money is...

    And A Hearty Hi-yo Silver....Awaayyy!!

Good luck with what ever you decide to end up doing. The truckload revenue has been on the rise and I know of several operators that are doing better in the new market place than they did when fuel was less than a dollar a gallon. Go figure? Take your time and evaluate all your options very...

    all-types expediting nightmare

Sounds like good advice. I'm not a big fan of frivolous law suites, but this sounds like a bad deal to anyone who has watched the comments on this subject. Good luck for the future. I'd stick with the major players in the expediting business.

Glad you stuck with it! Not everyday is a great day...but they come pretty close here in expediting world! Drive safe and be profitable!

    time out

I agree, you make the calls on your income, time off, etc. In general, loads are more easily available the last of the month and the first of the month is a bit slower. So I would recommend staying out as long as your staying loaded. I always tell operators you don't break the flow when your...

How long to keep Log Books?

My account said 7 years. Sounds nutty but better be safe than sorry. I've been audited in the past, and they went back 3 years then. Good luck with the storage problem.
